Hello Sooner Fans:

First let me introduce myself. My name is Scott and I am a Life long Penn Sate Fan, but more importantly I am a huge College Football Fan. I usually attend all Penn State Home games (haven't missed one since 1996) and all Away Games( been to the every Big 10 venue at least six times each), and have been to many others including Notre Dame three times, Clemson twice, Florida state, LSU, Boston College, Louisville, Virginia, Pitt, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Alabama, the Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Alamo Bowl, Sugar Bowl Gator Bowl to name a few.

Reason for my visit to your board, is I (with 2 other friends) am planning to attend the Kansas State Game in Norman on October 15th (Penn State has a Bye) and I am looking for some advice as to where to stay, what to do ,etc. Myself and the guys I am traveling with are in our mid 40's.

currently, I have booked several hotels. They are Courtyard by Marriott on Copperfield Drive, Spring Hill Suites in Moore, The Days Inn on West Main Street, Comfort Suites on Copperfield Drive, Country Inn and Suites on Ed Noble Parkway. So, my question is what is the best place to stay in proximity to the stadium and the area where most bars/restaurants are. I plan to pick one hotel and cancel the others. Or maybe you have another hotel suggestion that I have not booked.

Next question, what would you consider the best restaurants to go to? i always enjoy eating at places that have local flavor. You know, the place to be in Norman on a Friday night on a football weekend? Or after or before the game?

Next, how is the tailgating scene? We will be flying to the game so we will not bring our own supplies. Would any of you be kind enough to host us at your tailgate? We could contribute cash.

Next, what would be your best advice for obtaining tickets? We would be in need of three tickets and would prefer to sit in the lower level and not in the end zone.

I must say I truly enjoy all the traditions of college football and look forward to a great trip to Norman. So, any advice you can supply would be great.

Boomer Sooner!

Stay away from the Days Inn. Far away. Consider staying at the Embassy Suites. None of the hotels are near the stadium. I'd recommend renting a car if you haven't.

Eat at the Greek House. Eat at Victoria's Pasta Shop. Eat at DING Asian Fusion in OKC. Get breakfast at Sunny Side Up in Moore at least once. Eat at the Diner. If you buy meat to grill or smoke, get it from Artisan Pride in Norman.

Tons of tailgating and the people are the friendliest ever. I can't advise on purchasing tickets. I haven't bought one in 21 years. I actually get paid to attend the games!

It is hard to anticipate some of this year's paradigm. With the stadium construction, there might be some traffic rearranging that we won't know about until there is a game. Also, there is a lot of construction on I-35 which is the primary way to travel to Norman. I'm assuming you're flying into OK City, but some people on a long flight will fly into DFW and travel north three hours. Except I'm told that right now, it's closer to four because of multiple bridge construction on i-35 coming from the south.

There is a strange place to stay in Norman, where I stayed on my last trip. It's own by the US Postal Service and is used for meetings and other assembling. 4.5 miles east of the stadium, which is a better game day access. Well maintained. They even have a gym. But it's a public hotel. Your tax dollars at work.

Tickets access for three on the sidelines lower level might be challenging. For a KState game, it will depend on how OUr record is. We play four losable games before KState. If we get beat before, it will be easier for you to find good tickets. This site has a ticket board. So does another Sooner fan website. Those can be good sources. There are always available tickets around the stadium on game day. But with the new stadium construction, traffic patterns may change this season.

I'd recommend at least checking out the SE corner of the stadium, which is close to the largest collection of tailgaters. Scalpers sell tickets at that corner, and you can interact with the most Sooner tailgaters nearby. If you tell the story of your trip, you'll be very welcomed.

But there will even be tickets along Lindsey driving in from the west, if you chose that access. Three are the least sold combination. Lower level is a challenge. I can tell you that personally, I'd much rather site on the west side upper deck than the east side lower level, unless it's a night game. And I'd prefer the end zones to the east side upper deck, especially the north end zone. But the south end one will be the A.D.'s pride and joy. But it's new, so nobody knows how the details there will be worked out.

If you want lower level, non-end zone, try the K-State website for visitor tickets.
Unless the new construction moves the visitor section, you will be on the side, even with the end zone.
In my opinion, EZ tickets are better than most sideline tickets that are not between the 20's.
Not just in Norman, but anywhere.

what about this view Lion? These belong to our fam... I bet I can get you fixed up!

I am wondering if the mega sized monster might not get in the site lines of pass receivers and kick returners, and cause a few problems.

I think there are a few KSU tickets still that will go on sale beginning August 1st. Just give the OU ticket office a call at 405-325-8329. You might be able to get some pretty good seats by calling them.

While the KSU tickets may not go on sale till August 1st if you call now you might get some ideas on availability and what seats are still available.

Also, you do know that Geno Lewis is now at OU. He graduated from PSU and will likely get some playing time.
