My sources say it's more of a 'Melican Thang, V...I'm not worried about YOU, tho'...With your Savvy, you'll parlay anything into Party-Time, right?Good one, SS! I'm in San Pedro Garza Garcia right now, and Cinco De Mayo is just not a "thing" down here. I was surprised.![]()
It's the one day of the year to celebrate Mexican heritage. Considering how many of Mexican descent we have in the US, I think it's not a a bad thing. It's less about the original reason for the celebration and more a Mexican heritage festival in the US now.
Also, the leader in charge of the Mexican resistance in Puebla was from Texas if I recall correctly. The Battle of Puebla was one of the few battles against the French. It was eventually through American support that the Mexicans were finally able to drive off the French.
Started by Jose Cuervo in about 1995...
I’ve never even considered Cinco de Mayo a day to celebrate. It’s was just a day to use as an excuse for my wife to go out and drink after work with my buds. St. Patrick’s Day was another. LOL
I have an AT A GLANCE appointment book. This Friday, according to my AAG, 5-10 is Mother's Day in Mexico.Just goes to show you how dumb most people are in America. Celebrating a Mexican Holiday here that nobody Celebrates there. They should rename it here to Cinco de Drinko. And as far as beating the limp wristed French lol thats no big feat, everyone walks all over the French. . Ha ha
Technically, that seems to be the point of most holidays these days. St Patrick's Day, Cinco de Mayo, Memorial Day, The Fourth of July, Labor Day, Halloween - all drinking holidays with their own twists.
