Vs. Texas Tech last weekend, she hit three homeruns including a grand slam in game three. She has already hit 7 home runs this season.

Alo is batting around 400 and has 4 HRs. She had a HR last weekend

I saw her play in Phoenix early in the season. She is not a big girl but gets around on the ball with a lot of lift. One of the guys in the stands was from California and told me her father is a team roper and all around rodeo hand. She comes from cowboy stock.

As a team OU has hit 59 homeruns,that leads the conference. Next is Ok. St. with 46, Texas only has 25. Team avg is .371, wasnt a big fan of Gatso having her son as hitting coach, but it seems to be working. Just would like to see a few more slap bunts.

Well in my opinion he is a big improvement over Tripp Mackay. Just curious as to why you think JT wouldn’t be qualified to be the hitting coach. His resume prior to coming to OU seemed pretty solid. Is it the nepotism issue that bothers you? I just don’t think Coach would hire her son if she did not truly believe he was the best person for the job. Of course I expect someone to come on here and talk about OU’s poor hitting in last years CWS and blame JT, or wait until we have a bad game this year and blame JT. My opinion is that he has done a great job. His approach seems to be simpler. The very structured one size fits all approach that McKay used was not any better and certainly not as productive. That is just my opinion.

JT has proved that he is a quality coach, I am just a fan of the small ball, the slap bunt, which is what OU was so good at a few years ago. As long as they keep winning and hitting homeruns, I dont care who the coach is.

They bunt to move the runners and Mendez has several bunt singles with her speed.
They hit singles, doubles, triples and many HRs.
