NORMAN — Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley said he draws "pretty clear lines" when it comes to players entering the NCAA transfer portal midseason.

At OU, entering the portal equates to being off the team. Redshirt freshman defensive back Miguel Edwards entered his name into the portal Wednesday, according to The Athletic.

"I think we kinda try to handle each case as it is," Riley said. "But at the end of the day, you're either with us or you're not.

"If a guy's gonna leave, we certainly don't throw 'em out. We're not like that. We do a lot of things to keep track of them academically, off-the-field, have people in place in our program set up just to kind of check in with them, make sure they're doing well ... But at that point, they're not a part of the team either."

Oklahoma wide receiver A.D. Miller made the rare decision in the offseason to enter the portal and return to his former school. He committed to Illinois before backing out.

"A.D. Miller is the perfect example," Riley said. "He goes, he tests it for a little bit, figures out that's not what he wants to do, came to us about coming back, and glad we were able to bring him back. That one worked out. You can't be in the portal and on the team. That doesn't work. But at the same time, that doesn't mean we don't have an open mind about your situation, either."

I don't pay for it and had no trouble reading from the link.
Wonder what the difference is?

LR has a very level head on his shoulders.

I think it keeps a read count on IP addresses. It will let you read 1 or 2 articles per month for free, and then it starts elbowing you for a subscription thereafter. I was able to read some articles posted a couple of weeks ago whereas others couldn't. Now I'm in their boat, because I likely used up my quota on those.

I'm pretty sure the magic number is 5. But if you clear you cache and cookies, you can beat the system.
