Freshman uniform numbers and players with different numbers from last year....

I wonder why Cee Dee Lamb didn't take #2 last yearn instead of it going to Badet? Maybe it was because Badet was coming to OU as a senior and he got first pick at his jersey number?

I did a quick search through google & soonerstats with No success for a list of Retired Numbers. Does anyone have those ?
OU has never had a great running back that wore #44, but there was Ernie Davis and Jim Brown at Syracuse and Leroy Kelly of the Browns. This is just a personal preference of mine. That's all.

Floyd Little wore #44 for Syracuse after Ernie Davis, and also had a great pro career.

Not even close.
How about an elite running back ?
Uhles was a reserve H-Back, by the way.
Fullback actually, that's why I bothered to make the joke. He only got the ball twice all season but he did manage to score on his one rush. As far as elite, it ain't happening at OU, unless you want to count Lydell Carr (another fullback) who had it in '84 (switched to 45 in '85).

I watched every game OU played during Carr's OU career from 1984-87. While there is a photograph of him wearing the number 44 in what has to have been during spring drills or August drills (probably his freshman year), Carr wore number 45 in every game he played at Oklahoma.

I was referring to starting off the year, not the games themselves. Should have been clearer, my mistake.
