Five first game captains

Stoops is very deserving of being a captain more so than Harrington.

Harrington must be doing something right since he'll be starting over the most ballyhooed of the transfers: "In maybe the most competitive position battle of the preseason, senior Justin Harrington has landed the starting nod at cheetah linebacker over sophomore transfer Dasan McCullough..."

The other big surprise: "Marcus Major "OR" junior Tawee Walker are listed as the starting running backs ahead of Jovantae Barnes "OR" Gavin Sawchuk."

We are weak at the WR Position, Stoops is holding that up getting a Scholly as a 6th yr man imo. Has to be some guys out there that we could recruit to fill that void yet some fans latch onto that last name even if it means we are lacking in that area and we are. He needs to do 6th yr Senior shit this season.

After the 2021 season, Riley's last season, freshman Mario Williams, sophomore Jaden Hasselwood transfered out, and Darby never panned out and is not on this year's roster.
Mims, as expected, left after last season to go pro.
Two elite receivers, Pettaway and Keyon Brown, were in the 2023 class, but Brown went to play JC football due to grades.
So now, OU's receiving corps consists of Farooq, Pettaway, Freeman, Bunkley-Sheldon, Gibson, Stoops, Graham and transfers Anthony and Thompson.
While there is not the proven depth at WR at this time, the coaches have said they like what is there, most notably Anderson, Freeman, Pettaway, Stoops and the two transfers from Michigan and Texas.
It will be interesting for me to see how the receiving corps shapes up entering the Texas game.
The 2024 class has 5 WR's coming in and "athlete" Andy Bass could be the 6th one if he winds up at the position.

Stoops has always been clutch.
He is clutch when it counts. Everyone knows he's not the best athlete on the team. He does his job and follows simple instruction, and moves the chains. Some of our players in the past, were not smart enough to do that? Doesn't seem to matter what level they are in life. Some folks just don't get it.

This will be his last hurrah as a player and then coaching becomes his vocation (if he wishes)

Have a great year Blake and thanks for some great memories

Personally, I have been worried about the depth and play at the wr spot. I've been wondering for months now, who would step up this year. Time will tell.

It is rightfully a concern but I do believe the talent is there to step up.

We know what Stogner and Drake are. They'll provide quality, consistent play on every down.

Anderson, Gibson, Farooq, Anthony, Thompson all have talent and higher ceilings but thus far are relatively unproven.

Lot of big talk surrounding Gavin Freeman this off-season, like Wes Welker comparisons but also unproven.

Time to start earning that money.
Have heard that players might be getting a cut of the gate money in the future.

They can name the Water Boy Team Captain for all I care. I am just glad Football Season is finally here.
