The end is near. I honestly believe he loves to play for the Thunder, but he wants a championship more. Unless OKC opens their wallet and gets a solid free agent who can play defense and rebound, he's leaving. Then Russ leaves or gets traded next year. The window really looks like it has closed for these two without help.

Good.

I like Durant and Westbrook but couldn't give two poos about the Thunder. I was a Maverick fan before the Oklahoma City Supersonics came along and watched a pile of fans jump from the Mavs to OKC. Didn't really care till I had them saying crap like "you gotta root for the Oklahoma team".

I couldn't give two poos about the entire NBA, Durant or Westbrook. All the chest beating, walking, fouling, lack of team loyalty, etc yield a game I don't enjoy being involved with. Of course, this is JIMHO.

p.s. Pretty much ditto for MLB, although can't help myself keeping track of the Cardinals and watching them in the playoffs. Goes back to when the Tulsa Oilers were the AAA farm club for the Cardinals. As a youngster, we use to go to a lot of their games.

I'll be a Durant fan wherever he plays. But I hope the front office pays the guy. Strange as it is, Westbrook may be the better player, but he's probably the lost superstar that hurts less. Russell has a different mindset that is better suited for bigger markets.

Also, if you cannot appreciate the tangible civic and economic enrichment in OKC that has happened because of the Thunder, then you're probably never going to be happy.

I feel the same. I had moved to Dallas before the Sonics ever moved to OKC, so I find it humorous when friends say I should root for OKC just because I was born and raised in Oklahoma.
I'll never be able to look at Westbrook seriously since his first two years in the league and all of this temper tantrums and ego problems. Then you have his ridiculous "fashion" desires. Just not a likable man in my opinion.

Add in a team with great success just because they had 2 lottery picks in a 3 year span plus the best pick outside of the lottery in the other year - Durant, Westbrook, Harden in consecutive years, yet there were basketball dummies all across their fanbase declaring that Scott Brooks was a genius coach.

They're about to enter the big test for their fanbase. Let's see if Thunder basketball is a big draw once they can't lure any free agents and have to build through the draft. You think Oklahoma has the kind of fans that will sit through a few seasons of tanking to try and get some new lottery picks?
