*** Spoke to Chris McClellan's father, Kenny, today and he told OUinsider that Sooners DL coach Todd Bates will be in Gainesville (FL) tomorrow to see Florida transfer DL Chris McClellan.
I really like where OU stands here and think there is some momentum for OU to make a quick push. However, McClellan will listen to some other programs before a final decision is made. But as I said, I think OU is the earlier favorite and that's not surprising at all to most, I am sure.
I know that some wonder if Todd Bates will be at four-star DL and Rivals150 DL, Dominick McKinley, state title game and from what I have gathered that is still the plan. If that changes, we will most definitely update you all.
*** Oklahoma has yet to set up an official with ASU TE Jalin Conyers, but I can confirm Chad Simmon's report on Notre Dame transfer TE Holden Staes and his official to OU on December 15th. What I have been told is that weekend will be THE big weekend for Oklahoma as far as transfer portal visits and maybe trying to get a high school player or two, in the 2024 class, in that weekend as well. Something we are digging on, but the HS visits would likely be unofficial visits. Just from what I have heard up to this point.
Staes has been a TE that OU really likes due to his versatility. OU is in competition with Tennessee and Washington, as of today.
*** Another TE name to watch is Kentucky transfer TE Jordan Dingle. Nothing major has happened here, but I am told the Sooner will look into him and see if there would be interest on his end. Again, just a name to watch as Joe Jon Finley looks to finalize his TE room for the 2024 season.
*** Yes, OU is looking into Florida RB Trevor Etienne, but I have heard UGA is the team to beat early on. As for the names I think OU will be in good with, I continue to hear how much OU likes South Carolina transfer RB Mario Anderson and once he officially enters the portal, I then expect Demarco Murray and Seth Littrell to try and make a strong push there. Also, here Anderson would listen, according to a few sources.
UTM transfer RB and Sooners offer, Sam Franklin, is the other RB that has been talked about a lot. Franklin continues to garner some offers from across the nation, but he has been in constant communication with OU and I expect him to be another that visits the Sooners in the next week or two.
