UPDATE Sunday 12:00 pm
Okay, so I spoke with several sources regarding 2024 four-star safety target Michael Boganowski Jr on Saturday. What I was told is that Sooners safety coach Brandon Hall and the whole defensive staff went out for breakfast (Saturday morning) with Boganowski, his dad and his nine-year-old brother. Mom stayed back to work and take care of a few other family things, I am told.
Source close to the situation told OUinsider that the Oklahoma staff gave Boganowski their best pitches, saying, "(The Boganowski's) got (OU) A-game when it comes to recruiting pitches," a source said. "Everyone spent more than two hours more hanging around each other and just having a good time while eating breakfast. That was on the heels of the Party at the Palace even the night before."
Speaking of the PATP the night before, I asked Boganowski's father what his thoughts were on the event and if the event was similar to ChampU BBQ a month earlier. The elder Boganowski told OUinsider, "Not at all. It was much more intimate in the vibe. Very select few were invited and outside of commits, it was just several guys they wanted to join the program with those commits," Mike Sr said. "But it was a lot of fun. My youngest was having the time of his life with the laser tag, dodge ball and other games they had set up for everyone."
Obviously, Brent Venables wasn't able to be there with with wife having a procedure in New Orleans, but I am told that the Sooners head coach did FaceTime with all of the visitors and their families, including the four-star safety target. Venables didn't stop there, I am told. Sources confirmed that BV also made sure that he was speaking with them shortly after they left Norman on Saturday afternoon. I am told both of those conversations hit home and that BV was giving a very strong pitch as to why OU should be the choice moving forward.
As far as more visits taking place, it sounds like the Rivals 4-star safety out of Junction City (KS) will be in Lawrence (KS) visiting the Jayhawks on Monday. Now, that may be a bit alarming when first reading that, but don't feel too alarmed. Boganowski was originally set for KU last Tuesday, but was unable to make it because neither of his parents could get off of work. So, now Boganowski is visiting KU with a buddy of his on Monday, and neither parent are slated to be there as of the time of this note.
Also, I know some are fretting a bit over the USC offer that took place soon after they departed from Norman on Saturday afternoon. Well, don't be. At least not right now... I spoke to a source close to Boganowski that told OUinsider that USC was slated to visit him this spring and then never arrived. At that point, dialogue between the two dwindled and nothing ever came of much with USC. Now, the Trojans have offered him at LB and when I asked a source if a visit would take place to LA the source said, "I am not too sure... but if I was to making a bet, I don't think a visit takes place before a decision is made or at all."
Obviously, that is just their gut feeling right now, but this person has been nails on the Boganowski stuff up to this point, so I will take their word for it right now. Even more so, this just adds to an already tense situation as the the final decision has been very hard on the four-star as it is. Also, I know that even though Boganowski and his family have not been about NIL this whole time, I am told they have been subject to some of that talk from collectives, etc. As for the Sooners and if they are interested in that portion of the process, I would boldly say 'yes!' The Sooners are playing the NIL game here as well, and doing so very competitively, if what several people have told me is correct. That should show you all how much Oklahoma wants the four-star safety.
As I noted in the OG post below, I do like where OU stands. This is a tough decision for Boganowski, and we know that there is a lot of closeness between he and KSU -- and we aren't just talking logistically. We are talking decades of relationships that OU is having to overcome. That said, the Sooners visit this past weekend hit on some big pieces that the Boganowki's had some questions on, and I think that bit of info, along with OU being in the SEC moving forward, is what has given the Sooners a slight advantage. Still, it's not one that can't be overcome by KSU, with him living in Wildcat Country as it is. So, I would tread lightly with confidence until a decision is made sometime between now and the start of the season -- as things stand today.
We will update you all so more as this goes on, but unless you see us flipping our FC, we continue to like OU here. Even if it's by a razor thin margin these days.

I spoke with the father of 2024 four-star safety target, Michael Boganowski Jr, about the PATP and his recruitment Friday night.
I noted in my initial post on PATP notes (pinned on the board), that there was some concern in Norman that another visit to Manhattan and KSU could be in the cards for the four-star safety when they arrive back in Junction City (KS) later this weekend. However, I’m told that the visit to OU is the last one for Boganowski, and now he will start focusing on a decision and his senior year of football.
Speaking of a decision, I got the sense that Boganowski — at least from what I could gather — has a sense of where he is headed, but wanted to see all three places again before deciding. Basically, I would call this tour of visits a ‘final check of things’ to see if he is 100% one way or another.
As of now there I not a definitive date, but most sources close to him, and from what I was told tonight, expect a decision before his senior year begins in August. So, you can add Boganowski to the list if big-time targets the Sooners are working on closing in on soon.
Also, I know you all will ask me what my feelings are with Boganowski, and even after tonight’s conversations, I still like OU. Though it’s ever so slightly on the difference between OU and KSU.
I know you all will think it’s really good news that I’m picking OU with him, but I do want to add that the Boganowski’s have done a great job not tipping their hand and keeping things close to the vest. Still, it seems there is a sense of comfort with the Sooners’ staff and safeties coach Brandon Hall in particular. I think that, along with his desire to play safety is what sets OU a part from the rest — along with him playing the SEC if he chooses Oklahoma.
All that said, if this starts to feel like it’s trending towards KSU we will update you all immediately, but as of now, I still like my Rivals Future Cast of Oklahoma.
