*** As you know the Sooners are hosting 2025 four-star and top 100 DB Jonah Williams today for an unofficial visit. Williams grew up an OU fan and has been looking forward to this visit for some time. That said, there is more to the safety recruiting and the Sooners are making waves in multiple classes thanks to the efforts of Sooners safety coach Brandon Hall and him leading the way...
*** 2024 Wake Forest safety commit, Andy Jaffe, is in Norman as well today. That was first reported by our man Parker Thune a while back. Still, the Sooners are going to recruit Jaffe pretty hard and those around the Switzer Center seem to love the Clearwater (FL) DB's junior film, along with his size (which has surprised people with him being a legit 5'11/6'0). So, on that note, don't be shocked if the 2024 safety picks up an OU offer today. Just gonna throw that out there.
I know the first question will be whether or not that would hurt or have something to do with 2024 three-star safety target Michael Boganowski and his recruitment with Oklahoma. Sources indicate that the two have little to nothing to do with each other, so that tells me that you all don't need think that as of now. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't expect an official from Jaffe -- if he takes one at all, depending on how this visit goes today -- to take place until late July or in the season.
Nonetheless, I wanted you all aware of what I have heard on that front.
*** Speaking of 2024 safety targets, don't be shocked to see 2024 three-star S/ATH Joshua Lair on campus on June 13th. I am told his trainer has had a few guys up this week camping at OU and that things have gone well with the South Texas kids. So much so that elite 2026 safety Isaiah Williams will be in Norman to camp and take an unofficial visit with OU on the 13th of June. I would bet Williams to picks up an offer from OU that day, if I was to guess.
Why does that matter and how does that connect with Lair? Well, I am told that Lair may come up and camp and visit as well. With his trainer returning with Isaiah Williams, it honestly looks more likely than not, so that shows you the variety at which the Sooners have to fill that final safety spot.
*** On that final safety spot, I continue to feel like Michael Boganowski is leading man on that front. However, if it comes down to Boganowski and Lair or Boganowksi and OU flipping four-star safety Aaron Flowers from Oregon, I continue to be told the Sooners will take two/both.
Brent Venables is huge on getting as many long, rangy guys at corners and safeties as the Sooners can heading into the SEC and all of those guys fit that bill.
*** We will continue to have some notes throughout the day, but wanted you aware of what I am hearing on the safety recruiting front in three different classes.
