One of the things we talked about earlier in the year, when OU switched back to a true spread, is that your quarterback gets vulnerable to taking a beating. Even more when he's running it a good bit. But just the pass rush exposure, like Heupel dealt with can lead to late season quarterback subpar function. From 2000 to 2003m when we were in the true spread, we had either beaten up quarterbacks, or less than OUr best guy taking snaps.

Johnson is now lost for the day. So their walkon is playing and so far, it ain't pretty.

A spread with a less than large fast quarterback can be lethal offensively. But sometimes, you get bit in the butt. Baylor's butt, legs and arms are now missing. It's a little like the armored guy in the Monte Python movie. They're runnin' out of limbs. But still pretty mouthy.

I can't see how, but if Texas goes on to beat Baylor, Stanford wins big, then all the other favorites win out.....could a 2 loss, PAC 12 Stanford slip by OU? At this point with Baylor's offense hobbled to the point of irrelevancy, it appears that this outcome is inevitably a Texas win. And because the Bears are down to their 4th string QB, I doubt that a loss will impact OU's standing at all.

The selection commitee doesn't factor in margin of victory/loss, but they do factor in injury and how in affects a team. BU qualifies for that consideration.

It's 20-7 and Baylor has third and goal from the Horns' six. They've actually run the quarterback on purpose two or three times since Johnson left.

Now fourth and goal on the six. They've missed two makable field goals and will kick on fourth down. 24 yard FG is good. 33 seconds left in Q3. Baylor ran a lot of running backs tacking snaps and outran Texas by ten in the third quarter. Likely to be 20-10 heading to the fourth quarter.

Pretty remarkable comeback. Texas has defenders falling as fast as Baylor's 4th teamer's passes, but Baylor is mixing a quarterback who can't throw but running some zone read and some Wildcat with two different RB's, they's scored on three possessions.

Still not sure why Charlies hasn't played Swoopes more. He started at quarterback and the Horns scored on each first quarter possessions. But the Horns with their best two quarterbacks both playing, have only five completions in the second half. Baylor has close to that.

The Horns now have little drive going with their lead cut to three. Second and five at the Bear 43, under seven minutes left.

Baylor lost because their first three QBs were lost. And the third looked pretty good against OSU. Been watching college football since 1954 and don't think I have ever seen that. How could it hurt Briles' recruiting? Go to Baylor and get hurt? If anything I think Texas HS qbs would be lining up knowing there is a good chance to play no matter where you are on the depth chart.
