Takeaways
OU does not need Texas to be good to succeed in the CFP era. The Sooners have established themselves as a national brand. Jordan Brand, top notch facilities, amazing HC in LR, two playoff appearances, Baker’s Heisman, and a massive influx of talent. Texas doesn’t need to be good to boost the conference. It would help slightly, sure, but the Big 12 hasn’t been that great anyway, and that hasn’t kept OU out because we are seen as a national powerhouse. Texas being better, most notably, would make for more difficult recruiting, which we definitely don’t want. Here’s to many more seasons watching the Horns be “young and almost back” while they watch Lincoln and the squad rack up hardware.
