I think we missed a total of two days due to the frat incident. If we do, do we make them up after the spring game?

BTW, you think we take our football serious in todays game.................

Check this out................

The game must go on................

One last edit...Click on the picture to see it full size. I thought this might be a photo shop, but after looking at the stands where some fans are turned to the fire, I'm not so sure. I'm guessing 1950's with the fans clothes and the players head gear, etc.

Nah. Two lost practices. After the spring game, I don't think the NCAA allows any official practices until fall. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, the same was as if the practices were rained out.
All of the spring practices have to be completed within a certain number of calendar days, starting with the first day of spring practice. Inclement weather can extend the time period, but canceling can not.

Spring Schedule

A college is allowed to hold 15 spring practices, including a spring game. Schools are also permitted to have separate days during which activities are limited to required conditioning activities and/or watching film. These 15 practices must be completed within a period of 34 consecutive calendar days. Exceptions to consecutive days are university-sanctioned vacation and examination days, and days with inclement weather, restricting the possibility of practice. Only 12 spring practices may permit physical contact, none earlier than the third practice session. Tackling is allowed in eight of the twelve contact sessions. Up to three of the eight tackling sessions may be devoted to 11-on-11 scrimmages. The optional spring game counts as one of the three scrimmage days.

Well, I'm kind of like..."Ask not what OU can do for you but ask, what can you do for OU."

I heard that quotable quote along the way sometime...can't pinpoint exactly when that was.

Since you only get a dozen full speed practices in pads, two would represent 17% of the contact practice time. That' s not an insignificant number. This is the time when job are won. And even more, the time when they are lost. Given that we have four quarterbacks considered to have an equal shot, those two practices are critical.

Not to mention all the new coaches, new players in the defensive back field, offensive line and wide receivers. Two more days would let the staff get more familiar with what they have to work with before the fall.

Since they get to extend the time for the spring break holiday, I wouldn't think they would have any trouble getting in all of the practices.

A quick Google search leaves this issue unclear:

Losing two practices in the fall would be much more detrimental to a team losing a pair of practices in the spring. Whether Oklahoma will make-up the lost practice time or not remains to be seen, but the decision to scrap a second practice helps strengthen the focus on the bigger picture. Some may see canceling a second practice as overkill, but sometimes some issues are a bit bigger than sports.
Oklahoma's spring game scheduled for April 11. As of now, the loss of two spring practices does not have any impact on that date. Oklahoma assistant athletics director Pete Moris says the spring game will still be held the same day.

The cancelation of two practices might make it tough for the Sooners to get all 15 completed.
The NCAA allows 15 spring practices, eight of which can include live contact and three of which -- including the spring game -- can be scrimmages. Live contact practices are limited to two per week and cannot be on consecutive days.
The OU spring game is scheduled for Saturday, April 11. Team spokesman Pete Moris said the team already had two practices scheduled for after the spring game.
The NCAA stipulates that all spring practices must be completed within 34 consecutive days -- not including scheduled vacation dates, so despite the spring game being scheduled for 36 days after the first practice on March 7, the school's spring break gives the team a few extra days.

As I see it, assuming that they give 7 days credit for Spring Break (maybe it's only 5 days?), then they have until April 17th to get all of their practices in.

That means they have the entire "work week" after the Spring Game to complete practices.

So there are 4 weeks left. They haven't had a live contact practice yet, but they are allowed 2 per week and 8 maximum. They have enough weeks to get all 8 done.

I don't see any reason they can't complete all of the practices in the time remaining. It's probably just unusual to have 2 live contact practices AFTER the Spring Game.

A little birdie told me that Bob was not thrilled with the delaying of practice but he really did not have a choice. I suspect his primary concern was getting through it so that if injuries did occur, that there would be more healing time before the season begins.

But we will get in all 15. And he has had at least one practice after the spring game for several years now.

Good to hear, Plaino. We need every practice this spring for all the reasons that have been mentioned.

One regular practice, or one live contact practice?

Because if they want to use all of their 8 live contact practices, they'll have to have 2 after the Spring Game.

They have the choice to forfeit a couple of their live contact practices into regular practices though. Still 15 practices, but might not make all 8 live contact practices.
