In an effort to get some detente and have some of you off my back, I thought I would share a little bit of what I heard about our turn around this year.

After the UT game, the players went to the coaches and requested some more physicality in practices. Since the injury plagued year of 2009, Bob has scaled back on contact in our practices. Understandable since we had so many injuries occur in practices in that year and subsequent to it. So after Texas, we started doing more full contact during the week. This had a major benefit to the defense and OL as the practices were much closer to game speed. Watch the games after Texas and before that time. There was a night and day difference in the physicality of our team after Texas. I would expect this to continue. They do still have a walkthrough that is done on Thursday and Friday is a full pack practice.

This is the major change that I believe got us going after the UT game. Glad the players initiated it and the Coaches went for it. Some risk of injury, but a major reward in games as OU was used to defending opponents at full game speed.
