Compared the year when Kyler Murray was QB. That year, Kansas scored 40 on us. 40.

Yes, we still give up some big plays. Yes, a determined, mobile QB like Sam E. can still make enough plays to beat us.

But we're 26th overall according to this link from the NCAA:

https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/22. Better than both Alabama and Georgia.

And Grinch is doing it with junior college transfers, and freshman. Guys are playing hard, flying all over the field, and they are starting to make a lot of big plays, every game. Give Grinch one more year to recruit, build, and coach, and we'll have the best defense in the Big XII. Give him two, and we'll have a defense worthy of the CFP. That's the way it's trending.

We have played one toothless team and one decent offense, whose defense was hapless against our offense. Our D knew by the 5:00 mark of Q1, that they couldn't run much, and our pass rush got after them.

The last two seasons, I remember the talking heads raving about how great our defense was, after playing against a horrible offense. Let's see how we play the last three games before we go anointing anybody. I think we're good, too. But nobody has proven anything. It may take a bowl game against an SEC team, to really face a team capable of challenging us. Hopefully, the guys can borrow a little clean urine, before we play them.

We clamped down on a decent offense Taco Tech and mauled a mismatched KU team. If we void out lil brother, then we have a good measuring stick. Unclear if OU Killer Wallace will be playing...always a thorn in our heel.

Using a Biden line, "If you can't see defenive improvement, you aint a Sooner fan."

It's trending in the right direction and that's very important.

Winfrey, Ellison and Perkins are a force. Bonitto is playing much better. I asked Santa for an OU vs Georgia or Florida in the Fiesta Bowl.

Think we’d better hope for UGA out of those 2. Since Tebow left, UF has for the most part been pretty solid in just about every area except QB, & it looks like they’ve finally found a good one. That TE they’ve got would eat us for lunch too; kid’s a high draft pick when he leaves.

OU's defense is better compared to what it's been over the past few years, but the true test will come against OSU and in the post season.
I believe Grinch is doing a good job with his coaching and recruiting and especially by developing a solid depth chart this year and beyond.

Yes,,better,,,, but I just don't think we've played anyone with a really stout offense yet. Hope I'm wrong. I'm gonna just wait and see, but yes better.

Not saying that we don't have a quality front. But they really haven't proven anything yet. Tech and especially Kansas are pretty bad teams right now.

We are definitely improving and promising. The growing confidence is obvious. Let's not get carried away by routing teams with two combined wins in 14 games.

I have my doubts, like many, basically because we have played no one. The teams that have been balanced on offense beat us.(K-State balanced debatable so add special teams, yes we were inexperienced, yes missing key players). If your QB cannot throw, or your offense cannot run, we seem to do well, but the competition in the big 12 is terrible. OSU should have a balanced attack but their offensive line is the weak point according to the talking heads. Which in turn, plays into our favor with our D-Line playing well. I think we can pull it off if we get Sanders throwing Int's or rattle him with a few sacks. Some projections have us in the Cotton Bowl with TX A&M. In my opinion, that will be a good measuring stick for Grinch. If his D can suppress a near peer in terms of talent, performance, coaching, etc. If his D shows tenacity to keep the team in the game when the offense sputters. Those will be the key moments I can definitively say our defense has risen from the ashes that we have been accustomed to for quite some time.

With all of that said, I think in the Big 12, our defense is playing near the top if not the best currently. It is sad to say that this is an improvement.

Sgt Shultz on possible OU/A&M Cotton Bowl: “Very Interesting”

I think the biggest difference between this year and last. I don't see that many blown assignments. Guys are not out of position.

I've seen a lot of people down on BRH. But he is almost always where he's supposed to be. The Dline rotation, doesn't have the drop off, of last season.

Outside of some bad play calls. The players are doing their part. Okielite will be a test. But that Oline sucks. Sanders can hurt us with his feet but only if he gets, the LBs and DBs, back turned. This squad is way more disciplined, then recent years. Our Dline will create havoc, way to quickly to give him those 10-15 yard lanes.

Chuba should've declared, he knew how bad the big uglies are.

Seems pretty simplistic...pressure Sanders...contain edge. Then expect lots of mayhem to throw pokies off balance. Expect the usual desperate trickeration from these imposters.
