DB class

The grains of sand in the hourglass are slipping away. Time will tell who comes in to carry on in January. Lots of coaching is needed across the defense. That is a certainty....although the Big 12 may not be as explosive offensively next year.

I am thinking LR road trip after Big 12 Championship was to reassure the defensive recruits that big changes were on radar. We got some pretty good D potential reading through our recruit write ups. I am more than hopeful in future D play.

Getting defensive recruits should be EASY! I'm sure LR is telling kids, "hey, with our offense, can you imagine how many Championships we will win with a good defense? Oh yeah, and we're going to be getting a top-notch DC soon!" He can also say, "with the way the defense played this year, there's a good chance you could start on day one!".

Ty Dearman I saw where he was a surprise signee today, but dont see him on the commitment list.

Had to laugh when I saw the first play of Criddell’s “highlights” - comes up on a runner breaking through the line, hits him hard but falls off harmlessly and does not wrap up, as others drag the runner down as he gains 4 more yards. He’ll fit in just fine here....

I noticed that, he doesnt wrap up, I am more excited about the Ty DeArman kid. Hes a very physical player with great range

I think we'd have a better defense if we got more out of our defensive line. Not sure if it's the philosophy or just poor defensive line coaching, but they don't get off blocks at all.

Scalley may be a good choice, but i wouldnt actually call him a proven head dc. Hes only been a dc for 2 years. Golding has played in the secondary, coached the secondary and coached linebackers. This alone makes him a better candidate. Golding is a proven DC, has been a DC at 2 other schools before going to Bama.

Golding has also learned under Nick Saben and knows how to run a championship team.

Washington, Criddle and Morris, have the tools to be good. Davis is small but has unbelievable hips. He will be in everyone back pocket, every play.

Hopefully Bookie gets use to the speed of the game and plays CB. Although I have a feeling whoever takes over at DC, will run off a few guys. We need to over sign.

In his short career he has been a DC at 4 schools all led their league in turnovers and sacks. He has improved every defense he has been a part of. I see that he he gets the most out of his kids. OU is loaded with talent, just need someone to lead them.

As much as I hate to admit it, Saban has an eye for talent for both players and coaches. There must be something to Golding if "Tricky Nicky" brought him on board.

How do you call him a proven DC? Delta st, Tusculum, se la and utsa. Wouldn’t exactly call them world beaters , and he is a co dc at Bama that doesn’t call the plays, he is basically like Kerry cooks at OU. Scalley albeit not as many years as a DC as at least been the head dc for a power 5 school and yes he did play in the secondary as well and oh by the way it was at a power 5 school, not a delta st. Now I am not trying to diss Golding but to say he is a no one and that Golding is proven is a bit of a stretch
