The song “Jim Dandy to the rescue” 1973 by the group Black Oak Arkansas should be the theme for the next couple of weeks……
1). Hey !! look everyone it’s a discernible plan for football personnel - very exciting to watch our GM and his teams strategy and how it’s been implemented….. tactics…… so far. This bodes well for the future.
2). WR is the new RB - teams used to stockpile running backs and that position was sort of the Diva position….. now (last 12 to 20 years) the WR position has become the stockpile/Diva spot…… I’m very interested to see how the GM approaches this question over the next several months….. i.e. have a “hard number/board of high school guys” and fill in the other spots with older, more accomplished and certainly more physically developed portal WR - I think that’s where he’s going, but we will see.
3). It’s slow …….. and it’s happened with much more resistance (from where I sit) than it should…… but these last few weeks it appears that across the Athletic Department there has been a shift/metamorphosis/resignation to “do as the Romans” ……. Ott , the Stanford center, the two big additions to men’s basketball and the one big addition to women’s basketball …….. develop a plan and accomplish the mission. The trophy for cleanest Athletic Department is hanging on the wall in the Women’s dressing room - Get in the fight like you intend to win….. or do something else.
4). This needs to be said, for as much crap as Jay Boulware took on this site, and the other two I belong to…… his product was infinitely better than DeMarco Murray’s - This…… is a RESULTS business gentleman….. and it’s empirical and inarguable that BOTH the Teams and the RB personnel/results were better - eventually this needs addressing.
