Saturday forecast, Freezing Rain with a high of 36 degrees? But not nearly as bad as the 1985 ICE BOWL bedlam game: when the temperature at kickoff was 27 degrees, with 11 degree wind-chill. By halftime, it was 23 degrees and a minus-four wind chill. The artificial turf had turned hockey rink slick and icy white from the falling ice rain. It was the first time I'd heard the term "Thunder Snow". In the arctic-like conditions, the teams combined for 11 fumbles. Frostbite was a real concern. I'll never forget, after the game, reporters asked, OU QB, Jamelle Holieway, if he'd played in snow before and he said, "played in snow, I've never seen snow before?"
