Nebraska football announcer arrested for stealing money from elderly women
Patrick Combs, the announcer for University of Nebraska football games at Memorial Stadium, stands accused of swindling two elderly women of hundreds of thousands of dollars, according to court documents.
Combs, the stadium's public-address announcer for Husker football since 2002, allegedly used his power of attorney status with two Lincoln women, ages 88 and 92, to bilk them out of more than $363,000.
The Lincoln Journal Star says it's unclear who will be at the microphone when Nebraska opens the football season at home on Sept. 5. against BYU. Combs faces up to 70 years in prison if convicted.
