I don't think Baker had a great chance going in, but with Dede splitting some votes, that chance is smaller.

Last year they only took three, this year, five. Surprisingly, nobody from Stanford. Two ACC. Two Big XII. and Jabrill at Michigan. That they are inviting five, likely means that there is some split voting. It might get interesting. I think Jackson is a little overrated, but I suspect he'll win it.

It's a huge win for OU for exposure and recruiting. Plus, OU gets double the coverage during the presentation for Baker and Dede. I would love to see one of them win it by a nose.

Couple of ESPN talking heads saying it's Lamar Jackson's, but another says Baker has a 50-50 chance since it's five guys instead of three.

My concern is that some of the voters may not have had their eye on Baker and DeDe throughout the season and only know what they've seen on highlights on the post game shows. As a result, they may cancel each other out (along with Michigan's Peppers) and it comes down to Jackson and DeShawn Watson. I hope to hell I'm wrong and that they'll find his stats so impressive during this 9-game winning streak that they'll give him their vote.

Still, it's pretty freaking awesome to have two of the top five best players in the country on the same team!!! And it's a fantastic recruiting tool for the coaching staff that will definitely be used when targeting their top recruits.

Damn. It's good to be a Sooner!!!

The number of invitees is determined by the split in voting. They would likely never invite less than three. And probably about 5-6 is the max. My guess is the split is between Jackson and the rest or between 2 and 3, with 3,4 and 5 being bunched.

Two from the south, two from OU, and one from Michigan. Don't be surprised if Peppers wins it. Hell, Woodson beat Manning. The geography deal is a real thing.

The thing about Peppers is that I watched four or five Michigan games, and didn't see him doing anything spectacular. I didn't watch kickoff to final whistle, but a good bit. I saw him make some pretty special plays in highlights, but he doestn't stand out as much for a defensive guy on the Heisman stage.

I know that Big XII defenses aren't the caliber of a couple of conferences, but neither are the ACC's. Clemson's defense isn't as stifling as it was a year ago. Mayfield has been incredible this season. I just hope that this report means that Westbrook's receiver awards are pretty sure. That would have to help recruiting, especially at the position.

The sports talk radio guys in ATL are all over Lamar Jackson from L'ville in a landslide. Couldn't stop gushing about his 51 TDs - 30 passing, 21 rushing. Watson will probably be the #2 vote-getter just ahead of Baker.
