I think Stoops did a great job in the offseason hiring Riley. Riley has done a really good job in his first year. I thought Stoops had lost the fire to be dominant but he has proved me wrong this year. Also, great job by Mike Stoops and the defense this year. I think he has exceeded everyone's expectations, definitely mine. I really think all of this winning will really pay off in recruiting. I'm not sure how the playoff picture will shake out but I hope if Bama wins out that we will be matched up against them first. Not sure anyone can stop D. Henry but slow him down and I think OU could outscore them. It's going to be fun to watch.

Well, we did an admirable job of stopping Henry a couple of years ago, and even though some might say he's better...I'll counter with, So are we.

I concur about the Riley hire. It has me wondering already how long the guy will be around. Getting to the play-offs in his first year is a big deal. Getting to the Natty takes it to another level & he'll have some callers.

Agree. I have thought the same thing with all of the coaching vacancies.

Actually, we really didn't stop Henry. The fact that we scored so much early in the game forced Bama to go to the pass more often. I recall seeing him bust some big runs on our defense. I think there was a thread discussing this as well. But I agree, OU's run defense is much improved since then.

No, if he owned us, OU would have lost...geez.

Fitty, D. Henry was a freshman then and had other players ahead of him in the depth chart. He did rough us up. He didn't have a lot of carries but the ones he did have he gained yards. If I recall correctly, he didn't even touch the ball until late in the 3rd quarters. Bama didn't beat us, but Henry had a very good game and I'm glad see didn't touch the ball more often.

I agree with this. Bama was having to play catch up and had to start passing the ball more than they wanted. It seemed to me that we were fortunate that they stopped giving the ball to Henry because he seemed to have his way with our D. I also agree that our D is better now too.

Anyone who actually questions whether Henry was successful against OU really should go back and look at the stats from that game. Henry got 8 carries and rushed for 100 yards. Thats right...100 yards on 8 carries!!! So OU should be damn thankful that Alabama didn't keep feeding him the ball in that game. But I guess according to some, that's "stopping him admirably".

Belldozer, great post though man.

So, in essence, we took away their run threat early on and made them beat us with the pass, which was their downfall. Yay OU.

I forgive you for being wrong fitty....

Don't even worry about it man. He makes comments out of his rear, then when he is shown he was wrong he then doubles down on his stance and resorts to trolling.

Just be happy that those of us that actually understand football know stopping Henry will be a formidable task and Saban prolly isn't going to make rhe mistake again of not utilizing him enough.

Don't blame me or others about your lack of understanding of what actually happened during the Sugar Bowl against Alabama. Or like your comment about the scoreboard in this thread...do you even watch OU football?? Or do you just stare at the scoreboard??

Yeah unfortunately I totally agree. Everyone saw him cram Henry down Auburn's throat yesterday. Our defense is way better than Auburn's. The good thing is that their qb Coker has been absolutely atrocious the few games that I have seen. They cannot pass the ball consistently enough to win. If we can corral Henry somewhat and spread them out when we are offense then I think we will be just fine. Mayfield will have to have a big game because I'm not sure how well we could run on them. Their D line is pretty stout.

Kerry Cooks (secondary) and Diron Reynolds (defensive line) have done equally well on the defensive side.
