I'm curious about the way players are combined. Why don't they do any drills in pads? Why don't they run the 40 in pads...or do the shuttle, 3-cone, etc in pads?
Seems to me that seeing how fast some kid can run in his underwear doesn't really give an accurate picture of how fast he is with pads on. Obviously I know very little about the efficacy or correlation of combine results to field production. There are experts who have devised these tests. But for those who know, what's the point of drilling in a leotard and not in pads?
