College football is huge at OU....but...

I don't know but Texas is in the upper 20 million population numbers. They had their spring game today. I imagine they had around 105,000 at DKR and another 20 million watching it on the Longhorn Network. The fans are flocking to Charlie now same as the recruits do in December. Whoa is me

That's all they could muster..............fitty has almost that many likes on this board, give or take a few million..............:p

I've seen OU home games with lots of empty seats. Several empty seats were around me the entire season. They always go on to announce a sell out.

OU offers complimentary spring game tickets to season ticket holders and who knows who else. Even though they are "free", they are counted as "paid attendance". Whether used or not, they usually use ticket distribution OR ESTIMATES for attendance because turnstile attendance will always be lower. NCAA rules allow for this and it is used all across sports.

I can truncate what I just typed by simply saying, "Attendance figures are B.S.".

Here's the link.

Now I'm reading from a local news that a whopping 5,000 showed up. I could have went and found a seat probably. Charlie called the 2nd half because of rain. I think it messes his hair up when it's a light rain. He prefers playing in torrential rains. Then I see he was doing the fans a favor. You could walk right over to watch the Longhorn baseball team finish the double header in the light rain.
We may have some bad flooding in my neighborhood. We have a full lake so Lake Travis can't stand too much rain upriver. This is normal at this location. We are all prepared and made the plans. It won't be a flash flood. I had 2 weeks warning in 2007. My living area is on stilts. I have heavy woodworking machinery on the ground level. That has to be stored temporarily.
I thought the Horn Players would help out here for community service for us old farts. Most residents down here are Horn fans. They might get injured in the rain or pull a muscle high stepping away from the snakes and rats.

Eh, BFD.
Ohio has 12 million population.

Oklahoma has 4.

The numbers line up pretty good per capita.

12 million in 48,000 sqmi
4 million in 70,000 sqmi

That's also 250 people per square mile versus 57 people per square mile. They're 4x more dense, so travel is also less of an issue.

Yep, as an aside, that game with them in Norman is gonna be epic.

I'm thinking the marquee non conference regular season game of the year...at least top two.
Any doubt where Game Day will be setting up shop?:D

With bench seats and all the fat asses these days, you should be thanking the Lord some of them aren't showing up and you aren't being squished between the fat and the sweat. Wanna trade seats?

Ya that's a good way to look at it. Per capita it does make it pretty even with what OU pulls in. But geez...over 100k for a spring game is just insane no matter how you look at it.

Oh yeah, 100K is huge in any regard.

The Buckeyes own the whole state really, like Nebraska does there.
My flippant 'BFD' was only in reference to that mind you.

I thought it note worthy that OU has to share the state with the Cowpies and to a lesser extent, Tulsa. Plus we have the occasional team come to Oklahoma, pay a player outright to go to....

Your thoughts?

Yep, I wondered if someone was going to post this. Add the Cleveland Cav's, Indians and Cincy Reds in baseball, the state has a huge amount of sports teams where one can spend their bucks...........

Sure, lots of places to spend bucks, but as far as college recruits, fan support and money, Ohio State rules the state.
That's the point I'm laboring to, and failing to make.

I'm sure someone will name someone in short order, but I can't remember the last time we took a natural born from Ohio to play at Norman.:D
Go!
