As tough as it may be to lose good assistant coaches, it really speaks well for a program to have coaches that are sought after by others.....especially if that program can reload.Per DO, Stoops in several recent interviews: 'I'm all for my coaches becoming head coaches'
Who wouldn't want to be an assistant under Coach Stoops. Bob did his job searching for a new OC after the 2014 season. Lincoln Riley was a great hire.
IMO, our Fearless Leaders are far too astute to enter into an agreement like that, based on a single, and highly unusual, season. I also believe that 'The Muschamp Fiasco' threw cold water on the 'Coach-in-Waiting' scenario. I like Riley, a lot, but we need to see what he can do without The Baker...Anybody think Riley would be swayed with a silent agreement that he get the opportunity to become the head coach at OU when Bob retires in probably 3 years? Would OU be willing to give Riley with no head coaching experience that opportunity? Of course this is all hypothetical with Riley staying for 3 more years at least with "Great" success as OC. He would be 35 years old in 3 years. Or would OU go after a big fish head coach out there?
That would be a slap in the face to Cale.. He has been here as long as Bob has..JMOAnybody think Riley would be swayed with a silent agreement that he get the opportunity to become the head coach at OU when Bob retires in probably 3 years?
