July 2021 version of my 2022 Class Prediction –
Confidence numbers 1 thru 10.
*10 – verbal is incoming
*1 – total unsupported WAG
Things got very weird at WR, still unclear a bit at OL, and DB has never been murkier.
But putting a Verbal label next to Sawchuk was very nice. Taking some gambles and trying to read some future tea leaves.
1. WRB: Raleek Brown 5-8, 170, 4.3 California – Top 25. Verbal
It just looks like to me that he’s locked into OU, and his family has a plan.
2. RB Gavin Sawchuk 5-11, 185, 4.4 Colorado – Top 50. Verbal
BOOMER SOONER!!
3. RB Jovontae Barnes 6-0, 195, 4.4 Vegas – Top 100 CN =8
Kind of expecting a commit date any time now. USC
4. WR Luther Burden 6-2, 195, 4.4 Missouri – Top 25 Verbal
Hopefully the OU visit on 25th calmed some nerves.
5. WR Andre Greene JR 6-3, 185, 4.5 Virginia – Top 100 CN = 5
OU needs WRs and he’s the only guy who has an OU visit in the books. On film, he’s more than a makeup for Shettron. In fact, I think he’s got better/elite hands.
6. WR Evan Stewart 6-1, 175, 4.4 Texas - Top 30 CN = 4
Call this wish fulfillment. Hoping OU gets a do-over.
7. TE Jason Llewellyn 6-5, 240, 4.8 – 3 star Verbal
Right now all signs of a Bama flip are pretty non existent.
8. TE Kaden Helms 6-6, 220, 4.6 – 3 star CN = 9
I really thought he was verbaling at the BBQ. Just need to wait a bit.
9. OT/OG: Malik Agbo 6-5, 320, 5.2 Washington – Top 200 CN = 7.5
Sticking with this call. BBQ power. Agbo’s versatility is a big reason why.
10. OC Demetrius Hunter 6-3, 300, 5.2 Texas – 4 Star Verbal
11. OT/OG Jacob Sexton 6-5, 310 5.2 OK – Top 250 CN- 8
He bounces back into the OU fold.
12. OG: Devon Campbell 6-4, 320, 5.2 Texas – Top 25, CN = 6
I think the BBQ puts OU in firmly in the top five with more chance to impress this fall.
13. OT Jake Taylor 6-5, 280, 5.1 Vegas – Top 300 CN = 9
Decision time. OU beats Bama and ND.
14. DT Jaray Bledsoe 6-5, 280, 4.8 Texas Top 100 CN = 4.5
I’m sticking with Bledsoe. But I’m very concerned he’s fallen off the recruiting map. No visits anywhere in June that I can tell.
15. DE Omari Abor 6-5, 245, 4.7 Texas - Top 50, CN = 7
OU has HS teammates, a cousin, distance, frequency of visiting, childhood favorite card win out in the long run over appeal of the cult of Bama.
16. DT/DE: Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy 6-4, 275, 4.8 – Top 25, CN = 9
He visited pre BBQ. Ignore the Collie Station church nonsense. It’s going to be a wild ride fighting off Bama and Clemson, but OU has their official still to use.
17. DE: Derrick Moore 6-5, 260, 4.7 Maryland – Top 50 CN = 7
He’s made no other visits but OU. He has no officials scheduled but OU.
18. EDGE OLB Kenyatta Jackson 6-4, 225, 4.6 Top 100 CN = 8
I picked KJJ before the BBQ. Huge BBQ momentum. OU might need just one more visit to win this race.
19. LB: Kobie McKinzie 6-3, 230, 4.6 Texas – Top 75, Verbal
Best MLB in the country? Having a great summer camp session. His photo next to K9 was insane.
20. LB: Kip Lewis 6-2, 205, 4.6 Verbal
21. Safety-Nickel-CB Jayden Rowe 6-3, 210, 4.35 Tulsa Union – 3 star Verbal
The picture of Rowe next to Tre Brown is crazy. Especially since Rowe might be faster.
22. Safety Robert Spears Jennings 6-3, 200, 4.5 Broken Arrow – 3 star
Vastly under rated in state WR who Grinch thinks will make a great safety. All the physical tools are there.
23. Zion Branch 6-2, 200, 4.5 Vegas Top 50, CN = 6
tOSU’s momentum appears stalled. I think OU will find room for Zach in 2023. I can see OU developing some West Coast/Vegas momentum over July.
24. CB Austin Jordan 6-0, 185, 4.5 Texas – Top 150 CN=9
BBQ Is done. tOSU has CB commits. UT visit is done. Expecting announcement soon.
25. CB Gentry Williams 6-1, 170, 4.35 Tulsa BTW – Top 50, CN= 7
My two theories of recruiting both point towards OU outlasting USC and having more chances at Williams than USC
1. Recruiting is a marathon not a sprint.
2. Recruiting is like tipping over a Coke machine. It takes multiple attempts to get it rocking so you can tip it over. (original idea courtesy of Seinfeld’s theory on breakups)
