What a clutch performance! Capps was up on the beam for the final OU performance of the meet. Anything less than a 9.5 would have given a come from behind win to the Wolverines. Maggie's ten on bars had put OU up 3.25 after the first rotation, but Michigan won every rotation after with Nichols sitting out.

With one performer left, OU had a slight lead, but Michigan's floor scores had been much higher than the Sooners' one rotation earlier. And they had a 9.725 that would be replaced by whatever their final score might have been. Indeed, after Capps' 10, Michigan's final floor exercise was a 9.975. So if Chase had scored less than 9.950, OU would have had their first lost of the season.

Tonight, the men's gymnasts are also on the road at number two Stanford.

Now, the biggest gymnastics question of the day is whether Maggie Nichols sat out the last three events as some sort of plan, of if she was injured in warmups for the next of future events. Or in getting her 10.

If Maggie is hurt, a possible defense of the national title would be pretty tough.

Tweaked knee. Extra rest. She could have competed all 4 but KJ was confident in their depth and chose the extra rest.
