469-524-1000 -- this is the staff number. Call them and let them know what you think about throwing flags for using the upside down horn sign. Give them a piece of your mind ... not all of it ... just a little piece.

Tell them that carving out a "special penalty for other teams" just for Texas is pure unadulterated BS.

Let them know what you think about it.

I get your point, but their at least needs to be consistency in this rule. Texas' Mike Davis was penalized several years ago for doing a "guns down" in a game against Texas Tech. Heck, even within the last month, Hagar had to issue an apology for saying something in regards to "OU Sucks".

1. I don't think any of these "offenses" should be penalized or an apology issued.

2. If the league is going to create a rule, then enforce the rule 100% of the time or don't enforce it at all. However, don't penalize one team and then not another. At least be consistent. It really isn't that hard to do.

3. Get rid of the damn rule. It is stupid and the Big XII league office really needs to be focused on other issues.

4. Let's get to Saturday!

The Big 12 should be more concerned about having only 10 teams yet its called the Big 12.

My problem is that horn players do their hook em all the damn time. They run off the field giving the opposition fans the dumb hookem sign. You can't throw the flag at the other nine teams players and let the horns off with doing theirs.

I get it that the league wants sportsmanship, but you can't do that by allowing Texas to do whatever and that is what this penalty is about.

If the normal Hook em Horns hand sign is done as taunting, I agree with you. However, I’ve never seen it done as disrespectful or as taunting.

Does not mean it hasn’t happened, I just haven’t witnessed it.

Were the UT fans giving Herman crap for his complaining about horns down? What are they saying in the UT boards? I refuse to lower my IQ to go over there :p

Equating Texas being positive toward itself with OU being negative toward their opponent (Texas) is as retarded as making the horns down a penalty. It's taunting for sure, but it's football, a rivalry and that's part of the fun. It's a love hate for me. It simultaneously irritates me and reminds me of the real estate we occupy in your heads. But let's not pretend that horns up and horns down are the same thing.

Just another reason OU should leave the Whorn League. Let texass support the league with all that Holiday, Texas and Alamo Bowl Money they have been making the past 7 yrs or so.

Your school destroyed the Southwest Conference then went looking for another conference to destroy. You've done a pretty good job of it. Your school is responsible for running off many of our Big 8 brothers, including our best rival Nebraska. Your school even ran off your big-daddy Texas A&M (who occupies sprawling acres in your head). Why is it that everything UT touches turns to crap? Now this special penalty rule that applies to any team who plays Texas.

That's only some of the things that "Horns down" means to me. But one of the benefits of having such a whiny school in our conference is all of the conference trophies we have. Dang, we've got a bunch of them. I lost count.

Good lord There is so much incorrect information in this post.

If the horns down is taunting then the horns up is taunting.

Give me a break. Flashing the "Hook em" in no way meets the definition of taunting. "to reproach in a sarcastic, or jeering manner; mock. "

You're just being silly now.

As previously stated, I think the rule is stupid and I have no issue with OU doing the horns down and way too much time and effort has been spent on this by too many people.

You're right I am being silly, kind of figured people would get my sarcasm. Even though I hate everything about the Texas Longhorns, I see nothing wrong with the horns up, but if the Big XII is gong to say the horns down is taunting then the horns up on the field should also be seen as taunting. I'm just flat out tired of all this politically correct garbage, let the players have fun while they are playing the game. It's a rivalry, we're not supposed to get along.

I'm thinking the B12 officials are having a difficult enough time getting football calls - holding, pass interference, Illegal Formation - right.
Now they have to try to police non-football things?
Officiating will go from horrible to whatever is worse than horrible.

Not sure who the best referee crew is as they are all pretty inept. Hope they can maintain control of things. This game could be quite a hootenanny.

Honestly, at this point the League is trying to determine what someone means by a Hand Gesture (they are trying to determine a players intent). Clearly you can't flip the bird, but you have no idea the intention of Horn Up / Horns Down or Guns Up / Guns Down. Either allow all of it or make it all illegal.

Of course it is. You horns throw that stupid hand sign right up in opposing fans faces. Your fans use it to taunt opposing fans. The problem is you can't handle getting it thrown right back at you.

You're just being ignorant intentionally now.

I can't wait to eat steak Saturday afternoon.

Knock the horns off, wipe its smelly ass, and serve it on a plate.

I'm with CT. Break the horns in half Saturday. Zero playoff controversy.

I want Ohio State fans left saying, "damn, we are definitely only #5."

I am down with this order of business. I want to see the Buckeyes on outside fogging up the CFB Playoff window. They deserve nothing after a Purdue beat down...
