Danny Stutsman‘s dad was on a podcast last week and mentioned that he visited Danny prior to a game and looked at the defensive playbook. He said the playbook was 62 pages which was only for that particular game. He said that the Brent Venables defense is very complex

My question is - is it too complex for kids out of high school that will be at your program for an average of 3 to 4 years?

If it’s very complex, that knocks out most freshmen from playing immediately because they won’t know the playbook. They don’t see immediate playing time until their sophomore year.

The other concerning thing is what Gabe mentioned in the podcast which is the Brent Venables defense likes to shift at the very last second and Baylor took advantage of it.
