UPDATE 6:16p THUR: Here's the official statement regarding Du'Vonta Lampkin's release from Texas NLI.
"The University of Oklahoma Athletics Department received notification from the National Letter of Intent (NLI) Program on Thursday, through Du'Vonta Lampkin's family, that Lampkin has been released from the NLI he signed with another institution. Because Lampkin's NLI is no longer binding, he is not required to serve the NLI penalty. Lampkin has signed a financial aid agreement with OU, is enrolled and has been attending classes. In terms of playing eligibility, he has five years to complete four."
We're working to confirm with the athletic department but no reason to doubt a kid.
