NORMAN -- After losing to Dallas Baptist on Tuesday, the Sooners bounced back in impressive fashion versus West Virginia on Friday night.
The Sooners' starting pitcher Braden Davis got started early and never looked back as he delivered his best performance of the season. The Sooners' pitcher put on a clinic on the mound versus the Mountaineers in his seven innings pitched. After an impressive 12 strikeouts, with eight coming in a row, Reid Hensley replaced Davis on the mound and kept the incredible pitching going. Davis and Hensley combined for a no-hitter, which was the Sooners' first no-hitter since Dane Acker turned the trick in 2020.
As for the Sooners' bats, they brought their A-game as well. They got started early as Easton Carmichael put the first run on the board after Michael Snyder sent him home on an RBI-double. It was the third and fourth innings that gave the Sooners' separation, as they put up eight runs on seven hits, giving them a comfortable 9-0 lead heading into the fifth.
Oklahoma's Michael Synder was great at the plate where he went 2-for-3 with three RBI's. Anthony McKenzie has himself a game as well, where he also went 2-for-3 at bat and delivered two RBI's.
After a near-perfect performance, Oklahoma went on to win 13-0 and has improved to 7-0 in conference play. They will continue their series versus West Virginia with a double-header tomorrow at 3pm.
