LOTS of talk about how bad the Big 12 is doing in Bowls. Took a little closer look at the match-ups.

-#17 Baylor vs. #10 UNC - The Bears playing without most of their big players shred the #2 ACC team for over 600 yds rushing. Bottom line - UNC should have MURDERED this BU team. A complete embarassment for UNC and the ACC.

-Unranked (7-6) Tech vs. #20 LSU (9-3) - This was a mismatch in EVERY way. A team that can't stop the run against one of the best RB's in the country. Bottom line - Game went EXACTLY as it should have gone.

-#4 OU vs. #1 Clemson - Expected to be one of the best match-ups this bowl season and the game lived up to the hype for 3 quarters. OU finally succumbs after losing many key players. Bottom line - A couple of plays here and there and OU comes out of this game a winner. No shame in losing to the #1 team in the country with a Heisman finalist QB that is REALLY good.

-#16 OSU vs. # 12 Ole Miss - OSU w/a gimpy QB going against an Ole Miss team chaulked full of NFL talent in the Sugar Bowl. Bottom line - Really tough match-up for OSU and unsurprisingly they get beat convincingly.

-Unranked KSU (6-6) vs unranked Arky (7-5) - One of Bill Snyder's weaker teams playing in Arkansas' backyard against an Arky squad many thought would compete for a conf. champ. this year. Bottom Line - Game goes EXACTLY as one would expect.

-#11 TCU vs. #15 Oregon - Just like Baylor, TCU goes into the game without many of its key players. Bottom line - Oregon SHOULD win this one easily.

-Unranked WVU vs. Unranked ASU - A home game for ASU in the battle of also rans. Bottom line - ASU SHOULD win given the homefield advantage.

Analysis - A particularly bad set of match-ups for the Big 12, especially with BU and TCU playing without the majority of their marquee players. Big 12 not favored in all but 1 game and that was #4 OU facing #1 Clemson who was the only undefeated team in cfb and got to play (for good reason) in a location considerably more fair to Clemson. Not surprising that the Big 12 would struggle and come out with a less than impressive record.
