Did he play tonight? I don't think he played much against Texas either. Dude is just too small and too slow for this level of play

I was at the game. My vision isn’t great. I sure thought he was in here and there. I’m pretty sure of it.

Guys, he was a corner in HS. OU played him at safety.... that's a whole other animal.

I understand that, but I honestly can't see him playing corner at OU. He is slow and short. He will hit you but those are few and far between. His tackling was also terrible

Not saying he can. Just saying that it's a big adjustment to move from corner to safety.

I also remember a guy named Strait who wasn't real big and wasn't real fast.

I would never compare Bookie to Strait. Strait was a stud as a freshman. He was not huge but he was definitely bigger than Bookie and could actually tackle someone. Being at safety should have nothing to do with your ability to tackle someone

The comparison is that Strait was a corner. And he didn't have blazing speed. And he didn't have a lot of height.

And it took me about a minute and a half to discover that Bookie's size now, and Derrick's size in the NFL are almost identical.

Strait came in as a freshman and played his natural position.. and did it as well as anyone we've had. Bookie was put at safety by Mike Stoops rather than play his natural position. The differences in those positions is HUGE.

I'm not saying Hiles will ever be a Derrick Strait, I'm just rebutting your argument that he is too "slow and short" to play corner.

Strait was 6 ft. Hiles is 5'9 at best.

LOL at veritas. I looked it up dude........Strait is 6 ft and bookie is 5'9. I thought it was pretty obvious Bookie was smaller, but I guess not

I just don't see Hiles playing safety, no way. He might be able to play corner but damn he is small.

I personally feel he would get picked on quite a bit at corner because of his size and speed. Maybe he will improve next year. I mean he has got to have a lot of talent to be recruited by all the top schools but so far he hasn't lived up to the hype.

I saw a tweet earlier that he was feeling a bit frustrated with the fan criticism (some pretty harsh) He is just a freshman, so I say give him time to develop and show what he can do.

Wait....wasn't he on Twitter earlier this year criticizing Mike Stoops after he was fired? Too many of these young "superstars" can't take anyone being critical of their play. They have been told all their lives that they are awesome

NFL corners are short. That's just an excuse. They are short and play freaking hard. The receiver still has to come down with the ball, so no matter the size, they gotta get through you.

Yes but its very difficult for a 5'9 corner to cover a 6'3 or taller receiver especially on jump ball situations. I'm sure Bookie plays hard, but he just doesn't seem physically able to compete. He just bounces right off of runners

Says the dude that only comes on this site to fight. You've never posted a single positive post EVER. You're a crappy case of herpes. You only rear your ugly ass to hate on OU or our best posters.

Jcon ... veritas went ballistic for no reason when I pointed out that bookie was indeed shorter than Strait. I think his reaction was way over the top and ridiculous.

Jcon I don't post to make you happy. In fact i rarely post at all. Take your issue up with the poster who was completely ridiculous with his responses.

He ought to feel frustrated. He is a 5-Star recruit and did nothing this year. Hell yea, should be frustrated just like the rest of the defense.

Oh, he did something, he got BURNT on several occasions, that is why he was benched. If he has the skills, I hope he takes the fans criticism and uses it as motivation.

Hold off on burying Bookie's career at OU. He's one of the guys who looks like he was completely mis-used by MS and needs to be repositioned and coached up. A new position coach and new DC may very well turn things around for him.

Being at the wrong position really doesn't have anything to do with tackling. Every time I think of Bookie I also think of him completely biting on the handoff and letting the TX qb run right around him. He has a lot of learning to do....lets hope he eventually figures it out

I would agree if the tackling was poor for him only. But when all 11 guys are doing the same thing (for 2+ years now) and there were no changes made all year, that screams coaching. When all the guys have the same technique, that has to be what they are being told to do. Can you really pin that on any one player?
