Bookie 5 Star??

He is a lot of things, including a very highly recruited kid and a freshman w/o any decent coaching. I'm holding my call on him until his Junior year.

What worries me is what the coaches are seeing. He is obviously not ready but they leave him in. I can't believe there's not someone else that could play at least as bad and maybe better.

With a couple exceptions, he has been terrible. I have no clue why they leave him in the game. There must be someone better.

Well the timing of a new DC might save him for next year. If the new DC sees something in him, they may throw a RS on him. Or if he's as bad as some of you think, then the new DC will recruit over him. I suspect that he'll either get better or benched.

Speaking of benched... he met the bench tonight.

Special teams player until he gets better at everything. He should just have kept quiet when Mike left but he didn't now he has to play his way out of it.He doesn't like it there are alternatives.

Either he’s slow or just not going 100%. The WVU guys flat out ran him badly.

I don't think he's that slow, his technique is just flat out horrible. He doesn't turn his hips real well, and allows the receiver to break cushion before he even attempts to turn his hips. I tell my high school DB's to not get stuck in the mud, and Bookie gets stuck in the mud often.

No he doesn't, that number should be reserved for players that like to hit and play with their hair on fire.
I'm not a Big Bookie Fan, but regarding his choice of #44, it is not Boz Based. He had an older brother, who died, and who wore #44, so Bookie and another of his brothers both wear it, as a tribute to their bro' who passed...

I will wait until next year to judge Hiles as a DB.
His high school video showed him to be a very good receiver, so maybe there could be a position change if he doesn't pan out in the secondary.
His issues may include an ego trip from his high school days and his 5-star rating. It appears that redshirting him may have been a better idea as this kid is just not ready for prime time.
So OU has two defensive 5-star players in Kelly and Hiles...looks like I'll have to see what 2019 brings to see if they become as good as advertised.

He has been looking like. a 2 star. Burned like dry toast under a flamethrower.

He’s not a safety that’s why (don’t know why he was there most of the season) and stills is just that good that’s why he got burnt when they finally put him at corner... honestly the defense didn’t play too bad it was just sometimes they were in bad positions like the turner yell bad angle ... fix those little things and we would’ve won by 10 or more.

Not going to write him off yet. This is simply the reason why true freshman rarely start -- we just had no better options. Give him a year to mature, and time for a new DC (and hopefully a new DB coach) to work on some things. He may still be great, if he's coach-able.

I agree that it looks like he should have redshirted. He wasn't ready for this level of play physically or mentally.

I just hope PROPER coaching from a new regime can straighten his game out. Cooks and Ruffin couldn’t do it. Seems destined to special teams the rest of the way. Maybe that is his niche. Maybe.

They need to put him back at nickel but we're now running a 4-3 so they slid him back to safety. I know Broiles got hurt but where's Haughton? He wasn't playing bad.

There's little substitution which is head scratching. But with Mike we were a hybrid 3-4, then after he got canned with were a nickel and now we're 4-3. I like Kelly playing more but he doesn't have to be all or nothing. Mark Jackson, who was playing well has been sidelined because we have no identity.

So much work to do.

Haughton can’t tackle either way
