OOS tuition is a reality, no doubt about it. Now, I'm guessing they've got people helping them find scholarship money but I mean that only takes you so far unless you are exemplary academically.
He has told people he'll visit this month but I admit my faith has waned considerably in him. We'll see where things go but there's no denying he has a good relationship with Jay Valai.
It feels very different as these are guys that wouldn't have given OU a chance before or, would have said 'I'll take an official visit' OU has enough credibility at this moment to bring guys from all over the country on their own dime.
1. I like Edwards and he's got really explosive speed (captain obvious reporting), but he's a little more physical than one might automatically assume. That said, he's a guy you want playing on the edges and getting the ball on the move. As far as who he reminds me of? I see a lot of Noel Devine.
2. I'd say 45%. OU's chances seem to be climbing but Notre Dame won't be an easy beat here.
I'm not sure I'm ready to buy in yet but a name that comes up a fair bit? Cormani McClain.
1. It is. I'm not ready say it will happen but OU getting serious about his brother is an indicator of the plan going forward. They are going to fight this fight, and they wouldn't do it if they didn't think they had a chance. That said, I think OU is likely the third choice at the moment.
2. LET'S GOOOOO

5. Tottenham - 73
6. Man U - 70

10. BHA - 60
1. Yes, that day is coming. I want to also give credit to his predecessors, I think that day was coming anyway but Bates definitely speeds up the process as he has so much national credibility.
2. Hill they are VERY much a contender for. With Curtis, I'm not as sure, it seems like there's been a bit of an up and down to the contact since the staff change.
1. I'd be STUNNED if Brent operated that way. He's push, push, push...I just don't see him operating that way. So to me it's moot.
And the nice part is with ALL of the change both on the roster and the coaching staff there's no 'clear advantage' both sides have plenty of growing to do. They'll set up a 'best man wins' from the start.
1. I'd take Wisner. I'll admit Webb's junior tape was disappointing and the prior staff had some concerns. He's a very good player but I was just surprised I didn't see more - though I'll FULLY admit it's hard to know how much of that came down to injury. I think Wisner's speed gives him an edge.
2.
Dennis Allen - New Orleans
Mike McDaniel - Miami
Kevin O'Connell - Minnesota
Nathaniel Hackett - Denver
Matt Eberflus - Chicago
Josh McDaniels - Las Vegas
Doug Pederson - Jacksonville
Brian Daboll - NYG
I'll say David Hicks and Cayden Green.
1. Some sort of cross between Demarco Murray and Joseph Randle. I can't wait to see him in person and have a better feel for his frame. Demarco was SO much bigger (in frame) than people realize in high school he was always going to blossom into a big back.
He moves, and runs, a lot like Demarco.
2. I'm actually working on my first offer list update story since Brent was hired (roughly 60 names) so i'm going over a lot of tape and though I'm early in my breakdowns...I've got a big ole crush on...
1. I think that's EXACTLY what you'll see. I don't know that it will ALWAYS be that way (spring game is about fans, not football, generally speaking) but this year I think a standard will be set.

1. No one at this point. Though WRs would be tremendously helpful.
2. Jalil Farooq and Shane Whitter.
*Jovantae Barnes
Nah, my family are huge OU fans and have been since long before I was born.
My family - Tiffany and the girls - are OU fans largely built on Tiffany's time at OU and the fact that they both have pictures in OU cheerleading outfits since they were about 2. haha.
But no, they'd much rather me have more time to hang out with them. They don't find my job particularly cool.
1. Of my current top 5 (hoping to have that out in the next week or two), I'd say 3 for sure, maybe 4.
2. O: McKade Mettauer D: Trey Morrison
3. O: Jovantae Barnes, D: Jaren Kanak or Robert Spears-Jennings...I can't decide.
*That would require a real plan, haha. Honestly I'm getting interested in 'severance'.
1. Done.
1. REally good, got to work in the garage a lot, build a few things, was pretty fun. Built a bed end thing for Tiffany, blanket chest, etc. Built a little foosball table (small) for the girls, some shelving, and...something else I'm currently forgetting.
2.
I'll say 2.
1. So far, kind of quiet but that's fairly standard.
2. I think OU is a contender but it just feels like a few others have emerged a bit more at the moment.
That's a great question, you've got to have ELITE QB play and you've got to make sure you're top end along the lines. Those are things you just can't fake and they can make up for being 'great not elite' in a few other spots - RB, WR, etc. And if what you're saying is true you've got to realize there are going to be a few years when you just aren't going to be a REAL contender.
1. When I see must have it's key guys at positions of real need is where I tend to focus...
2023:
Tre Wisner
Jalen Hale
Cayden Green
Kayden McDonald
David Hicks
Anthony Hill
Adepoju Adebawore
Javien Toviano
Peyton Bowen
Micah Tease
Jacobe Johnson
2024:
Stacy Gage
David Stone
Kobe Black
Kenyan Kelly
2. Aside from guys already holding offers...
2023:
Cole Adams - WR - Owasso
Jonathan Ashford - OL - Edmond Santa Fe
Taje McCoy - DE - Putnam City
Eric Fields - ATH - Ardmore
2024:
Red Martel - ATH - Beggs
Issac Covington - ATH - Booker T. Washington
Bobby Brooks - OT - Meeker
William Smith - EDGE - Choctaw
Jino Boyd - WR - Union
Cooper Alexander - TE - Norman
Daniel Okoye - DL - Tulsa NOAH
Mykel Patterson-McDonald - DB - Westmoore
Brody Duffel - OL - Bixby
Damonte Patterson - DB - Elmore City
Dax Collins - S - Poteau
I'd guess before you end up there, the SEC goes separate with the Big 10. I mean you do that...do you REALLY need anyone else?
No, no you don't.
1. I've thought about that before and I honestly can't come up with a parallel, maybe Mike Belotti at Oregon? I mean most left on bad terms, etc. and it's just tough to envision.
2. I fail...AGAIN.
1. Dylan Edwards, Bai Jobe, Cayden Green.
2. I HATE YOU.
1. Kind of depends on how it plays out but I'd lean toward Evers at this point, kind of have to, right?
2. I'm not sure I'll go that far but I think he can still climb higher - top 50 is absolutely possible IMO.
Hola.
1. I'd be lying if I said I knew the EXACT particulars but I believe they once were pretty much just the same as walk-ons until fairly recently when they were given access to training tables, etc. But yes, they have access to trainers, tutors, etc.
As far as recovery packs? I'd assume so. I don't know why they couldn't get them if the scholarship guys could.
To my knowledge it's pretty much the same save for tuitions, stipends, etc.
I won't tell you that Kobie told me who each one was, that didn't happen and, like I told you at the time, those weren't going to be certainties. Kobie enjoys all of that and I know several guys went big.
But I can tell you that Tarber, R Mason Thomas, Moten, etc. were amongst those expected to be part of the plan.
I'd say about 70% landed.
1. I think he's a good fit for the scheme that Lebby brings with him. He isn't a dancer, he's going to use his size and power to get downhill and break tackles at the second level. I like that he is decisive when he runs and think it fits things well. He isn't perfect and there are more talented backs but I think he makes a lot of sense to be Oklahoma's guy as often as not.
2. That's my guess, they'll get him in space a lot more - more of what you saw in the bowl game IMO.
1. That's my bet but I'm far from confident about it.
2. I'm going to guess Evers - just more gifted than most recognize.
2. My foosball table I should have drilled the holes in each side simultaneously, would have been easier than singular. Was obvious but just dumb. The dumbest was framing up the case though, I measured it out that the base would be of the same size as the lid...then forgot that the body of the case would be outside the edge.
Another simple mistake that I just didn't take the time to consider.
2. Ohhhh...that's a good one. I'd lean toward Carey as I think he's a bit shorter armed, a bit more compression.
3.
Best: I honestly don't have one that screams out at me though I'm liking After Party at the moment.
Worst: Anything 'Housewives'
4. Justin McCay, I'll never be over that one, thought he'd be an absolute superstar LB. HE was just set on being a WR.
5. It isn't where I live.
2.
* Texas A&M,
* Florida State, Auburn,
* I think you'll have the SEC and Big 10 further and further separating themselves.
*VR will definitely be an option IMO.
* Girlfriend, Eddie's getting the groundwork laid, I'm very excited to meet her someday.
2. Yeah, because so much is already decided at that point. So they can then turn their focus to weekends of 3-4 officials, potential flips, etc.
Well there's a lot of variables to 'winning the Big 12' but just in general, I think a top 6 finish would be absolutely possible.
1. That's a big part of it to me, I also think Raleek is considerably bigger in frame and can take a bit more physicality.
2. Over.
It's not that simple. What OU is now is an unknown to many. I mean you guys can have your confidence, and to some degree I share it with you all, but OU under Lincoln Riley was a proven success. Under Brent Venables remains to be seen and as such guys are going to have some doubts.
1. I think this year is going to be better as OU will be a bit more varied than they were under Grinch.
That said, their personnel won't be as good, particularly up front IMO. You just don't lose multiple day 1/2 picks in your front seven and not feel some pinch.
I'd say, in a SP+ defensive ranking I'd look at it like this...
2022: 39
2023: 26
2024: 14
2. Richard Young (I know that changed again today) and Victor Burley.
1. I think LB would be my choice largely because they just have such a different level of expectation within this defense it ALL runs through them. For example last year when it was clear that the defense couldn't cope with the loss of DTY...that's not going to be the deal with this bunch, IMO.
2. And yes, I'd expect the play to grow considerably to forget that Washington and Graham should have been doing more already anyway. What happens at safety, to me, will tell the story of the 2022 defense. I think the rest is talented enough to be solid but they need those guys to figure it out.
Really good, I think my brain just needed a break but man I'm hitting the ground running. Going to be at a 7on event in Oklahoma this weekend then have the Jr. day the next weekend, a few camps the following weekend and then...I may get to breath again, ha.
Did some woodwork in the house, only got one job that I didn't get it in, so felt pretty good on my return on my time.
I'd bet that ends up happening - man look at his cuts...some of that stuff is just extreme.
In Gavin's case, yes.BigJ22490 said:

Yes sir, good list coming together. I'll put up my list of confirmed in tomorrow's WOKE and then just started updating as I go.
1. Not as of late, as Ada just hasn't had those kind of guys in quite some time. When I came into the industry it was still a place you had to go and check out. I still do from time to time but it's not a 'must stop' as it once was.deputyfroglegz said:

1. Will the way Lebby coaches offense effect the defense and it’s confidence? I heard Grinch told LR not to just embarrass the defense at practice because it hurt their confidence. Do you believe this is true and that BV would try to do something similar? He’s never had to deal with a high powered offense at Clemson because they ran a pro football style of offense his entire tenure. Could this be a big problem or not? It may have effected the way LRs offense played these past two seasons if he couldn’t do all he wanted to at practice.

1. REally good, got to work in the garage a lot, build a few things, was pretty fun. Built a bed end thing for Tiffany, blanket chest, etc. Built a little foosball table (small) for the girls, some shelving, and...something else I'm currently forgetting.
2.
I'll say 2.

Any summer workouts buzz?
Where are we at with Javien Taviano? He wasn’t in your class prediction.
1. So far, kind of quiet but that's fairly standard.
2. I think OU is a contender but it just feels like a few others have emerged a bit more at the moment.

Assuming OU never consistently cracks the top 5 in recruiting, not being able to match ATM, UT, UGA, Bama, etc. in NIL $$$, how does OU overcome the talent gap to win No. 8?
That's a great question, you've got to have ELITE QB play and you've got to make sure you're top end along the lines. Those are things you just can't fake and they can make up for being 'great not elite' in a few other spots - RB, WR, etc. And if what you're saying is true you've got to realize there are going to be a few years when you just aren't going to be a REAL contender.

Playoff expansion required a unanimous vote of cfb commissioners prior to 2026. When implementing the new format after 2025 how many votes are required? Could we end up with nothing if they can’t agree?
I'd guess before you end up there, the SEC goes separate with the Big 10. I mean you do that...do you REALLY need anyone else?
No, no you don't.

Glad to have you back chief.
I got to thinking the last couple weeks, with the way Lincoln left and how Bob came back and took over and helped keep everything steady and positive…is there any other program that has someone as a past coach that could step in like Bob? I seriously could not think of any school, I’m sure there’s some I’m missing, but I really can’t narrow anyone down. Was just curious on your thoughts, also you left us and no commit? WTF?

2. I HATE YOU.

Who wins the qb battle after DG leaves… also can Jackson Arnold make his way to five star status
1. Kind of depends on how it plays out but I'd lean toward Evers at this point, kind of have to, right?
2. I'm not sure I'll go that far but I think he can still climb higher - top 50 is absolutely possible IMO.
Hola.

Can you give us an overview of benefits walk ons and PWO get vs scholarship players? Food? Access to all the same stuff? Jordan's? Did they get those recovery packs?
Just curious if the guys getting PWO spots are missing out on the perks (other than the price of school, room and board)

Now that the class of '22 is in the books (largely) can you go back to that wave of locks from Kobi and tell us who he was responding to and who we actually got?
I won't tell you that Kobie told me who each one was, that didn't happen and, like I told you at the time, those weren't going to be certainties. Kobie enjoys all of that and I know several guys went big.
But I can tell you that Tarber, R Mason Thomas, Moten, etc. were amongst those expected to be part of the plan.
I'd say about 70% landed.

What are you seeing that makes you so high on Marcus Major? I know he’s got talent but we just haven’t seen it consistently.
With that, how do you see Gray being used? Will be a Tony Pollard-type? 10-15 touches between runs, catches, and returns?

QB prediction time
DG one and done in Norman?
whos QB2 for 2022, Evers, Rucker, Bowen or somebody from portal?
1. That's my bet but I'm far from confident about it.
2. I'm going to guess Evers - just more gifted than most recognize.

Will we be bitching more about compliance than we’re praising Turnipseed 5 years from now?
1. Mentioned it above, built Tiffany a blanket case, nothing too complicated other than having to make it fit the lid she wanted from a prior case.LanceStryker6 said:

1) What kind of work did you do around the house? Specifics(tools, etc)
2) What mistakes were made?

Who would win in an arm wrestling contest: @Eddie_Rado or @Carey Murdock ?
What is the best/worst show on tv?
Who is player during the Stoops or TBOW era that would have been an absolute star if they played a different position?
Why is Buffalo Trace so hard to get?

1. Nah, it was good, no big deal at all. I was doing a lot of woodwork, which I enjoy - one of those things where my mind can zone out a bit.sbeker63 said:

- Conference realignment

1. You have your choice of only player which one are you taking? Jobe, Bradley, or Harbor
2. Do you think this fall that OU will be able to maintain the only one big visit weekend strategy that has been rumored?
2. Yeah, because so much is already decided at that point. So they can then turn their focus to weekends of 3-4 officials, potential flips, etc.

If OU wins the Big 12 next year, where do you predict OU will finish in the 2023 recruiting rankings?
Well there's a lot of variables to 'winning the Big 12' but just in general, I think a top 6 finish would be absolutely possible.

1) What’s the main difference between Raleek Brown and Dylan Edwards? Is it just competition level so you trust it to translate more easily?
2) over under 2.5 signees from Florida in 2023
1. That's a big part of it to me, I also think Raleek is considerably bigger in frame and can take a bit more physicality.
2. Over.

So you’re saying Toviano was higher on OU with Grinch and Manning than this potentially elite defensive staff? lol @Josh_M
It's not that simple. What OU is now is an unknown to many. I mean you guys can have your confidence, and to some degree I share it with you all, but OU under Lincoln Riley was a proven success. Under Brent Venables remains to be seen and as such guys are going to have some doubts.

welcome back, board went to shit without you..
How sizable of a jump is realistic to expect in year 1, 2, and 3 under the new staff defensively? Represent the progress however you choose.
2023 recruit on offense and defense that we’re not talking about OU being involved with but should?

Which position group on the defensive side is going to have the toughest scheme transition? Would probably assume D-line since the players in those groups are not what BV completely envisions for those positions. Do you think the secondary will have tough transitions or will they benefit more from better coaching? Gotta assume that Valai and Hall are SIGNIFICANT upgrades over what Manning and Grinch were able to get out of those groups.
