Seven games against out of conference P5 teams, including some competitive games, most on the road. The conference will play at least one game against every other Power Five conference: Two against the Pac 12. Two against the Big 10. Two against the ACC. And one against the SEC.
Besides OU at the Rose Bowl, there are some competitive road games. Pac 12.

TCU goes to Purdue, Big 10, who I believe I read is missing their quarterback this week.

KState, who is 2-0 and has looked very solid against weak competition, goes to Mississippi State, SEC. MSU pounded the Wildcats in Manhattan last season. We'll see if they can do anything about that.

Texas Tech goes to Arizona. Pac 12.

Kansas will be a decided underdog at Boston College. ACC

At home, Iowa State hosts their near annual cross state rival game with the Hawkeyes. Big 10

West Virginia will be an underdog, hosting NC State. ACC

Interestingly, the two non-conference games against non P5's are both road games. OSU plays at Tulsa. And Texas plays at Rice. Baylor is open.

So only two of nine non-conference games this weekend are home games.

If the conference goes 6-3 this weekend, it would be a pretty good showing.

Go Clones !
hey ia...my pops born in newton, raised in DM went to iowa city for big10 schoolin then got his dds from there as well. oops forgot he first had a brief stint at drake until macarthur dragged him into the KW in '51. soooo there's still some fight fight fight for iowa heard even here at our house in the sooner state. to me the clones are iowa's version of okie lite. go hawks beat the campbell soups!!

Is that what we're calling forlorn hopelessness these days? Les "Mr. Offense" Miles generated all of 7 points at home versus the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers this past Saturday. Sorry Rock Chalkers, but insert Baker groin grab here and move on to Phog Allen Fieldhouse already.

And the Mountaineers look almost equally hopeless. And you're welcome for the waiver in letting Austin Kendall play immediately - that and a competent back-up QB might get you your next win. Yesterday Berry Tramel used a different word: "mystery" (versus not good).
Austin Kendall's play a mystery

My loyalty to the Clones is based on the old big 8/XII and dislike for the hawx is mainly due to the move here in '81 when b1g games were the only ones available in the pre-espin days plus the in-laws were brutal to me back then to the point that the ONLY time I ever rooted for the whorms was when they played & beat ia in a minor bowl. My favorite day was 1/1/86 when Fry's hawx fumbled away the Rose and we beat Penn State that night to win Natty 6.

IA has a great hospital but just a middling wannabe football program...

Kendall walked into a team that lost more than half their skilled players...and the moonshiner coach. They are not as god awful as KU, but they will finish in that cellar.

Not that it matters much but espin 'Game Day' will set up in Ames for Saturday's broadcast at the Cy-hawk matchup. Ia has to be favored as they have been more impressive to start the year and are ranked. Go Clones !

Never could figure out what the attraction for West Virginia was for Austin. I would have thought he had better options even if they were from a non-Power Five. He's going get his butt kicked just about every Saturday.

My pics on Big 12 games this week...
OU 64 UCLA 17
Shorthorns 41 Rice 13
BC 41 KU 14
K-State 28 Miss State 21
NC State 38 WVU 17
Iowa 33 Iowa State 23
TCU 27 Purdue 17
Texas Tech 44 Arizona 33
I'm assuming you think OSU will beat Tulsa, which would get us to the aspired for 6-3.

I am not sure Clones are a tad over rated this year. They lost big players in Butler and Montgomery, so the pressure is all on their QB who essentially was a back up.

It's going to be an ugly slug fest I fear. It will be pretty warm down there and it's been windy the last few days which will hurt Iowa's reliance on the pass which has been pretty effective so far (if the wind keeps up). Campbell better have his boys playing sharp after a bye week

I switched to WSU - Htn game and admit I am torn on who to root for. Houston beating WSU would make the Houston game look better on our schedule but its hard to root against the Pirate.

The officiating in the K-State is a little biased it would seem.K- State got flagged for roughness since then there have been 2 Mississippi late hits and nothing.I hope they beat the brakes off these chumps.

Going really well so far.

Jaywawks win on the road at BC
KState wins on the SEC road at Mississippi State 31-24.
West Virginia wins by 17 at home against ACC's previously undefeated NC State.
If Iowa State can figure out how to beat Iowa at home, the conference has a chance for the second undefeated week of the season in three weeks.

Mittipitti Tate fans are some of the worst I have ever seen. Have never won anything meaningful yet act like they are a top tier program. Lived amongst them once years ago, way worse than piggie fans.

They can shove those cow bells in the old brown barn. Glad K-State got their act together. They still look like last years Wildcats.

In West Lafayette, TCU waxed Purdue 34-13.
Horns waxing Rice worse. 48-13 with a minute left.
OU similar win over UCLA, 48-14.
Ok State waxed Tulsa, though it was a little closer than the final score, 40-21.
The only loss by a point, with a few tough breaks at home for Iowa State. Hawkeyes 18-17.
Tech at Arizona, leading 7-0 late 1st quarter in Tucson.

The conference is 7-1 so far, with only two home games. 6-0 on the road.

That hackeye team showed what a juggernaut they are: 1 td and 4 fg's are some such; hopefully they spoil Mechicken and/or Whisky's run for the Roses but doubt they get out of the season without 3 losses or more. The Clones had them cold but tripped over themselves in the last 3 minutes
