Everyone on ESPN talks about how the goal is to get the 4 BEST TEAMS in the playoff. They talk about the eye test and schedule strength. Its the reason Bama has gotten in every year, and the reason UCF has no chance.
Yet when it has come to Notre Dame this year...they seem to have this special exemption with eyetest, game control and struggling against weak teams. Their only blowouts were to paper tiger teams and Syracuse without their ace QB. Only 12 games played.
So when discussing who will grab the 4th spot if Ohio State and OU win, Notre Dame gets forgotten in the discussion because of the goose egg in their loss column. But how can ANYONE act like they wouldnt get beaten by double digits by all of the other top 6 teams?
I get it, they are undefeated. But if 13-0 UCF can get left out because of a weak schedule, then why cant a 12-0 Notre Dame that looked unimpressive against average teams all year get left out? Dont give me that blueblood shit...cause they are about to get in over another blueblood that is playing much better (either OU or Ohio St.) and had to win a conference championship game against a ranked team as well.
Im not saying its Notre Dame that should get left out for sure. But the fact its not even part of the discussion is what triggers me. We are about to leave out an elite team so that they can get their ass kicked in the Semis. ND needs to get in a conference or join the FCS and rack those trophies up.
