Big 12 Softball Title question

I apologize if this a dumb question, but I'm taking my kids to our first softball game on Saturday for the Big 12 softball championship at 2pm. Any suggestions on how early to show up? We have general admissions tickets. Does that mean assigned seating or the earlier you show up the better seats you'll get?
