“It is too early to speculate on the impact this will have with our member institutions regarding a football championship game,” commented Big 12 Conference Commissioner Bob Bowlsby.

“I appreciate that what was acted upon today takes into account our unique 10-team, full round-robin scheduling model. However, this vote does not automatically mean the Big 12 will implement a football championship game. Our membership will continue to analyze its pros and cons, as we now know the requirements should we decide to go down that path.”

Big 12 wins its NCAA vote for the right to stage title game among top 2 teams. Bowlsby: "We ended up with a compromise we can live with."

Bowlsby still "unsure if the (Big 12 ADs) vote" to actually have a title game. But future schedule does allow for it.

Bowlsby: "We had 7 of 9 affirmative votes." The ACC and American voted no. SEC and Big Ten were in.

Bob Bowlsby: "We are constantly monitoring the environment. What it does, it keeps us from being forced to expand."

Bowlsby thinks a Big 12 title game is "worth $25-30 million range" for TV rights.

How would the top two teams be determined? Bowlsby unsure. "It guarantees an automatic rematch from the regular season."

Bowlsby's hypothetical: what if Baylor-TCU finished 1-2 and had to play again? Is that fair? Or, what if they split? Who goes to CFP then?
