After 4 back surgeries with his back now fused, Tiger now 42 years old, came in 2nd in last week's PGA tournament beating many great PGA players including many great young players.
In this weeks Bay Hill Classic, Arnold Palmer's tournament, Tiger is five shots out of the lead with the 18 hole finals tomorrow.

By far Tiger is drawing the biggest gallery of any other PGA player with thousands following him around the golf course.

Every aspect of Tigers game, his driver, his irons his chipping and his putting all are excellent. The announcers today said in this tournament he is 45 for 45 making putts 9 feet or less which is outstanding.

Its great to have him back and playing so well.

In my opinion Tiger is good for the game. His popularity when he first came to the PGA tour help the game of golf grow. There were countless young people who picked up the game of golf because of Tiger. Jack Nicklaus had the same effect on me when I was a young kid.

That's a good point that I didn't consider.

I get that watching legends do their work in sports is fun, but what else about Tiger makes you so proud to root for the guy?
Was not stated he was proud to root for him just glad he was back and playing well after his injuries. We know he has personal and family issues and many of us have dealt with our own issues. I am a golfer and very happy to see him back competing at this level with the young players of today, none of them as of today has Tigers golf appeal to most fans. When contending he makes golf fun to watch.

I used to hope Tiger (Eldrick) could surpass Jack's records. No longer

Gary my friend, I am assuming why you posted that but I can guess. We as human beings ALL make mistakes in our lives Tiger included.

Just look at the President you support.

Tiger at least has apologized, has DJT?

Gary my old friend if you posted that for another reason I would like to hear why..

Tiger like Phil Michelson the older golfers on the PGA tour today, have charisma and the large majority of golf fans love the fact that Tiger and Phil are back playing well including myself. Tiger is now 42 and Phil who recently won a PGA tournament is now 47. Did you watch the thousands & thousands of fans in Tiger's Gallery walking with him at Bay Hill which was much larger when compared to any other golfer
in the field? He and Phil makes watching the pros play golf a lot more fun.

Tiger is also very charitable. He donated a million dollars in OKC to build a clubhouse for disadvantaged children. He does it from his heart not looking for praise. The charity Tiger has participated in is called "The First Tee" an International Youth Development Organization,. He also has a foundation that is charitable. Not only do golf fans want him back playing well, he is much respected by the other pros in the PGA.

Many great pros today now are in their 20's and they started playing golf when they were young because of Tiger and Phil Michelson. Tiger and Phil did the same having Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player as their idols when Tiger and Phil were young.

People now should judge Tiger Woods for what he has done right and his very special golf accomplishments, not what he did wrong.

Good for Tiger, good for golf! I don't necessarily cheer for any one golfer, but I'm glad to see Tiger back and playing well. I do think it's a little to early for the odds makers to list him as the favorite to win the Masters, but it would be cool if he was in the running again on Sunday.

I am the same way Schoonerman. I root for several players. Phil, Tiger, Jordan Spieth, and Jason Day are my favorites. There are a lot of really good players on tour and as a person that loves to play golf I am simply amazed with the ability that all of the PGA players have.

Sure Eldrick can be 'charming' when the ball is going in and the cameras are rolling and I applaud him for whatever charity he bestows BUT I've seen plenty of times that he has been a dick on camera and have heard multiple sources claim what an ass he is to fans including kids that simply want a high 5 or autograph. I've moved on, he's no Golden Bear or Bobby Jones (but who is)

Yes we all make mistakes and should not be held prisoner to them our whole life but its his character that bothers me. He is just not a very nice person, its in his DNA I guess, some people are just a holes and that usually never changes regardless of what type of mistakes they have made. But I wish him no ill will.

Yes, man. Here’s the deal. Tiger signed a fricking great deal with Titleist as a teenager. He never had to earn a living in the beginning. Never had to play under pressure. He IS the greatest golfer of all time, but what an advantage he had from the onset. He has no class and screwed it up.

In the 90s when I was at OU, I had a friend that worked at the DirecTV billing offices in OKC to get himself through college. At the time, before any of Tiger's messes, my friend came home once with a story that in their training, the trainers used Tiger's account as their template, because it was the most complicated bill in their customer base.

Tiger bought everything a la carte rather than just subscribing to anything. He would have literally thousands of purchases per month, and it became complicated because there would be discounts here and there and everything under the sun on his bill. The intriguing part was his attraction to pornography. My friend said he would buy those 4 hr porno blocks back to back to back to back, practically filling the entire month. It was so incredibly costly over just subscribing to the porn channels. The theory was that he often had guests at his home and wanted the ability to just not purchase a block and let the channel go dead before their arrival.

At the time, it seemed like a tall tale from my friend. On TV, Tiger looked so rigid and straight-laced. Then his collapse happened, and all of the tales about his Vegas trips surrounded by 10-20 women at a time, mostly women of the night, and everything my friend had told me from a decade before started falling into place.

I'm not saying any of that is wrong in and of itself, but the amount and appearance created by it all seems like enough to make even the most wretched of us blush. Dude probably couldn't focus on golf, because he was focused on something else.

Great to see you again weevilcatch. I hope all is going well for you and your family.

I don't know who the teams are in match play this week?

If i was guessing I would say the teams with Justin Thomas and Jordan Speith would do well.

I can't wait to see the Masters in April. I think its great the oldtimers Woods and Michelson
have a shot of doing well. Something tells me Ricky Fowler will be in the hunt as will Jordan.

Come back and post more often weevil.

I was at his dedication of the clubhouse and the million dollars he gave to the first tee organization in Oklahoma City. 4000 people were there as were many kids. I brought my grandson with me.

Tiger took several kids to the driving range and Tiger hit several shots as did the kids.

There were over a 100 children in line for Tiger to sign their hats and shirts and books..
He remained there for over a hour until each child received his autograph and a golf ball from Tiger. .

Tiger being so active with his money and time in the First Tee Organization for underprivledged kids shows to me his true character.

No golf for me this Sunday. It will be Stormy.

Fam is good my man...thank you for asking! About to have #4 kiddo...blessed and full house!

I like the semi-final to be Sergio, Rahm, DJ, and Spieth. DJ and Rahm I think will just over power this course, and this is basically a home "game" for Sergio and Spieth. From there, who the heck knows.

I like Phil, Tiger, Bubba at The Master's this year. It's one of the few sporting events I really look forward to in the spring!

I'm sure I'll be around to mix it up with you guys from time to time! Glad you're doing well.

I am going with Dustin Johnson to win it. I love watching this tournament, match play is very exciting to watch in my opinion.

I love the new format. I'm sure it is rough on the golfers that play into Sunday (6-7 rounds), but it gives us more golf to watch and if you struggle in your opening match you can still come back. I don't remember any negative comments from the players last year with the new format.

I don't wish him or anyone else ill; I just don't care to see Jack's record fall anytime in my lifetime

It's safe for sure. Even in Tiger's time the amount of golfers that have the game to consistently compete were extremely limited.

Today you have DJ, JT, Spieth, Rickie, Day, Rose, Sergio, Phil, Bubba, Rory, Rahm, and Matsuyama. A healthy Koepka, and Stenson can be added to the list. Then you have the youngsters coming up like Finau, Fleetwood, Hatton, Xander, Pieters, Fitzpatrick, CamSmith and Cantlay.

There are more golfers now that can win any given week than even 10-15 years ago. That also doesn't diminish the greatness of Jack or Tiger. Just saying 18 majors is safe...probably forever.

Tiger is great for the game, there are no ways around that. I don’t care what he did in his personal time, that’s not for me to judge and frankly none of my business. If people only knew what those old pro’s were doing, they’d be shocked. The TMZ environment brings all this stupid focus on their personal lives.

When it’s all said and done, Tiger moves the needle bc he’s probably the greatest golfer of all time. The guy almost single handedly saved the game back in the 90’s when sponsorship dollars were fading and so was interest in the game... causing tons of courses to fold tent. I’m glad he’s doing well and seeming like he’s having fun with the game.

Not to mention, being a golf pro I see the direct effect of him even being slightly in contention. It’s actually a pretty incredible phenomenon.

As a founding member of Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, we, the members had first hand experience with Tiger Woods. Take it from me, the guy is a first class grade A asshole of major proportions. I would cheer for anyone (even a Longhorn) before I would follow Tiger. I have zero respect for him.[/QUOTE

I have a couple of friends who are members of Firestone and they say the exact same thing. Arrogant jerk..

Well said Jobea. . the majority of pro golfers say his new success is great for the game and great for PGA golf.
The crowds at tournaments are much bigger the rating numbers for the broadcasting companies are higher.

Like I posted earlier Tiger donated a million dollars to the First Tee Organization for disadvantaged kids. I took my grandson and we went to the dedication of a clubhouse for the First Tee Organiztion he funded in Oklahoma City along with 4000 other people. . .

This is an older story but up to 2011, Tiger up to that time had donated 12 million in tournament earnings to charities.

No one is perfect. We as humans make mistakes and Tiger has made his share.

Tiger has done a lot for the good of the game and for children and that is how I judge him.

Other golf fans must agree with me as his gallery with thousands of people much larger than most other pros are .walking with Tiger around the courses in the recent tournaments

There's a difference in making a mistake and being committed to being an asshole.

And by the way, the "mistakes" you refer to weren't mistakes. They were decisions that he made over and over again. Long running deceit. Giving money away is a good deed, but that doesn't automatically make one a good person. A good person doesn't lay up with porn stars while doing drugs while his wife a kids are home without him.

Oh, and if you thinks he's so generous, read this.

So he gives away 12 million dollars primarily to children's charities but he is a small tipper.

Ok..

Tiger is widely respected by other PGA golfers. Ask Jobea, he is a professional golfer. Jobea commented on Tiger in this thread

Veritas do you know anybody else "who lays up with porn stars" & Playboy bunnies while being married shortly after his son was born?
Hint he lives in Washington DC.

And by the way in the last golf Tournament Tiger was in, the announcer Johnny Miller interviewed him.
Tiger said he takes his children to school every morning. .He has joint custody of his two children. .

Also he was on prescription painkillers when he got hooked on drugs because of his horrible back pain which made him give up golf for some years. In his 4th back surgery he got his back fused and he said he no longer has any pain at all..

And of course Veritas my old friend you can hate Tiger all you wish. .I happen to like him and I am pleased he is back on the tour playing well. It sounds like to me that Tiger is now doing things the right way.

As of February, 2015 Tiger Woods had made 1.4 billion dollars in his career. So his 12 million in donations amount to .86% of his income. Making out to be a philanthropist is bull. I respect his golf game, but have zero respect for him as a human being. And it has little to nothing to do with him getting addicted to pain meds. He's a textbook narcissist and he treats people like shit.

But like who you like. I won't change your mind, nor will you change mine.

By the way, when you bring up other people's behavior to justify your own, or someone else's, you've conceded the argument.

If anyone here thinks this $12 million donation was based on his character then you have been fooled. His financial advisors probably had more to do with this donation than Tiger. Tiger refused to sign autographs or do anything for the kids in Dubai because it was not in his contract. He refused to have a one shot putting contest with the rulers youngest son because it was not in his contract. Tiger was never offered show money again in Dubai. The guy is a prick and got what he earned in life, both good and bad. The nicest guy in golf is Darren Clarke, hands down. Ernie Els is a close second.

I'd be interested only to the point of knowing why he chose to give the $$$ to OKC ?

Because OKC is very active in the First Tee events for underprivileged children. They have many programs to not only help them in golf but also in life.

Tiger came here to fund their clubhouse which by the way is very beautiful and it hosts many of the First Tee events. .
