Baylor QB Charlie Brewer may have suffered another concussion

and there are some that are suggesting he retire from football. Given his history, I would think he should. I hope he and his family do what is best for his future.

That is awful! I heard them talking last night about the number of hits/sacks he has taken and the Baylor coaches mentioned he holds the ball too long

I don't know enough about the concussion crisis to discuss it much at all, but I don't remember it being an issue when I was playing high school like I read about it today. What I do know is we were coached to tackle differently back in the '60s than my son was coached when he played in the late '80s. His teammates had concussions. Mine didn't. Or at least none of us were ever treated for a concussion that I can recall. We were taught to wrap up and put our facemask in the runners chest or wherever we could below the top of the shoulders. Never did my coach tell me to just run into a guy. Seems to me you would be more likely to go helmet to helmet trying to knock a guy down rather than using your arms and body to tackle. I watch reruns of the great Sooner teams back in the day and I just don't see any resemblance of what I am watching today. Now that may not have anything to do with concussions but it sure seems so.

I don't mean to offend, Dude, but the guys delivering the blows nowadays are bigger, faster, and stronger. It is simple physics; F=ma. The bodies have evolved to deliver devastating impacts, but the noggins are the same old noggins.

I was thinking the same thing V. These guys playing today are faster, bigger and stronger than they have ever been.

Give me a break, V-man. I can't think of everything. LOL. Yes I didn't even consider that at all. I guess subconsciously I'm just pissed that our defensive backs' and linebackers' preferred tackling method is to charge into the runner high with his shoulder. The backs are bigger than the average little DBs that OU has become accustomed to recruiting also. And there's nothing simple about physics for this old man.
