I hate to hear he's being blocked from Immediate eligibility. I hope he gets a master's before he's done.
I say let the kid go. Its not like its going to make a big difference with him going to WV. Kinda a weird situation though
I can understand Rileys viewpoint, he has been holding a clipboard for 2 years and knows the formations and signals that Riley may use. That would clearly give WVU and leg up when it came time to play them.
I agree with coesooner81. Kendall knows the OU system too well to let him go to WVU or any other B12 school. Blocking or restricting where a transferring player can go to is nothing new. There are 120 other schools he can choose from. Where ever Kendlall lands, I wish him all the best.

For all practical purpose, Kendall isn't just a "graduate transfer" he is more like a normal intra-conference transfer. He has two years of eligibility left and could play two more years at WVU. Also, he has been at OU for three years and has the total OU playbook. Has been working it for three years. In addition, OU didn't play any role in Kendall transferring from OU. The only logical explanation for him transferring is the fear of competition.
I like Austin and wish he would have stuck with OU. In the long term he would have been better off at OU regardless of ever being an OU starter. The graduate transfer rules don't really apply to Kendall.
I sure don't blame Riley for blocking his WVU transfer. My guess is any other coach would have done the same thing.

I just want Kendall to do well wherever he goes. Riley should step aside.
Well WV could know every play in our playbook and probably still couldn't stop it
True....but the OU playbook may be different with Hurts at QB.
Anyway, Kendall has been a team player at OU and deserves an easy exit.

Mayfield did not have a contract/scholarship with Tech when he came here and from what I have heard, OU has not rescinded Austin's which makes the two situations very different.
Someone correct me but I cannot remember a scholarship student transferring in conference and being allowed to play the next year. I remember some being kicked off of their team who would have been able to but that was both the student and the original university mutually agreeing to dissolve the agreement.
Before using a premise upon which to build an argument, one must first fully understand said premise. You, sir, obviously don't, as you picked the worst possible.
As it is now a moot point, I'll leave it to you to divine the truth rather than spoon feed it to you myself.
Here's another little tidbit for you, nobody here makes those calls.
When Kyler and Baker came to OU they both had to sit a year and didn't play. I remember watching games with Trevor Knight as the starting QB and seeing Baker on the sideline during his season he sat out. Austin should not be allowed to be immediately eligible either. He is not a graduate transfer.
We're OU so I'm not too worried. But there is not any double standard.
One player is under scholarship. One is not.
One is transferring within a conference. One is not.
One is part of a conference that has rules against these types of movements, One is not part of a conference that has rules that are in effect.
Dude. Baker had no scholarship. None. Nada. Zilch.

OU invested a ton of money into him and got NOTHING in return, except for him to transfer to an in conference opponent.
I won’t root for him and have no love for him whatsoever.
Yeah, yeah, yeah... He’s got 3 CC rings and got to be a part of 3 playoffs and enjoy all the swag that comes along with that.
