OK, ladies and gents, we just watched the Sooners get manhandled on the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball by Clemson. Like making sausage, it wasn't pretty (Ross Perot, was has become of you?).
You want to be physical, aggressive? You want to be in the hunt every year for a title? Of course, of course, you have to recruit the big boys.
So tell me, here on the Corner, why aren't people up in arms about a problem that is nothing new?
Currently, OU's OL/DL recruiting is -- well, shall I be kind -- and simply say, lacking?
Here's a quick run down (it won't take long):
DL - Currently, you have Chris Daniels, who as we speak has arranged 3 more visits to other schools.
Next? Ah, that's it. Let me repeat because yes girly, sometimes I do stutter: That's it.
OL?
Two junior college guys are signed. Decent 3 star prospects in Ben Powers and Ashton Julious, who might or might not be contributors. Then there's a project 2 star (not that stars or lack of mean a damn thing necessarily) in Login Roberson. Coach B obviously sees something in him and on film he does look like a mauler. But are his feet clubbed? Really difficult to get too excited about this group.
And...that's it.
Want to feel better? Local hero Moore has named the Sooners his leader. Some call him a head case; some swear he'll never have the grades to qualify even if he does pick Oklahoma. But he's talented. Would be the best of the bunch if a miracle happens. Counting on him seems more of a stretch than counting on Frison, the guy who was just shown the door. But he was talented, too. So we're good here.
Or are we?
I'm tired. I'm weary. My life is tough. So is yours, I'm sure. But for the love of... can't the Sooners get healthy and over sign a bunch of lineman on both sides of the ball? Just once. Just now.
