Asamoah opts out of the bowl...

The only two sports I care about are going down the toilet in so many ways: major league baseball and college football.
I can only imagine what these two sports will look like in 10-15 years.
I have to agree. The kids mentality today and the rampant greed in college ball is ruining the whole vibe.

They'll be offered schollys at age 10 and nil dollars will be in the 10s of millions. 😂

If I'm a guy coming back next year I’d make sure I’m putting forth max effort. I can’t think Venables is going to put up with much
He's got to somehow navigate the portal, nil and opt out waters. God dam this game has gotten ****ed up in short order and it ain't good.

In time the ONLY bowl teams that will have any chance of having their opening day lineups will be the teams playing in the CFP. A day will come when fans won’t travel to watch a mishmash represent their favorite teams. We’re already getting a preview.
I think what's likely to happen in the future, especially with realignment and expansion of the playoff, is that you'll see most of the non-playoff bowls move down to the opening week of the season. There's already the Chik-fil-A Kickoff Classic, etc., and there are probably going to be a lot more of those types of games. There aren't going to be enough players or fans to make all of these post-season bowls viable much longer.

The b1g and sec sec have all the FL minor bowls in their tv contracts to give the cold weather teams a warm trip between the Holidays and New Years that will probably all have to be renegotiated for all the 6-6 through 8-4 teams. Hopefully they can eliminate some and make 7-5 or 8-4 the new standard in the future

Most of them aren't viable today. They only stay afloat due to mandatory ticket purchase allotments assigned to the schools. For the schools that can't fill their allotment, the school eats the loss rather than the bowl.

And I agree with you on the premise of how the bowls should adjust to become preseason games as the fix, but with conference consolidation occurring, you're going to struggle to find teams that want to play cross-conference matchups. Its just like the Bedlam question: If you're OU and already playing Bama, Georgia, LSU, Texas, A&M, and Ole Miss on your schedule, plus lesser P5 schools within your conference, do you want an Out-of-conference game against an Oklahoma State level of opponent?

It's no joke. Rose Bowl, TCU opener with Paul Thompson, and so many more. I am just over 50% win rate. My family runs me out of the media room anytime we are in the red zone.
Red zone failures have been common for the last 20 years sadly and have cost the Sooners at least one Natty if not two (Florida and LSU)

Take heart SW, my first game in Norman was Bedlam when Deano went out with his groin, that was an ugly game but ushered in a great time for the King and the kids

I don't think they've set up grading yet, he has to know he's a late round, guy.
But maybe he's talked with Trey Norwood and thinks the same will happen to him.

Not pretending to know anything, but there could be other underlying circumstances as well. For instance, maybe he came into the year thinking he was going to be going pro and sloughed off on his academics, and wouldnt be eligible next year anyhow. There's also been plenty of examples of guys leaving early because they've got a family to feed, although with NIL opportunities today, a kid has more options for this scenario than just 'going pro'.
