acting and feeling like I used to when The King was coaching. When OU got the chance to play some supposedly blue blood program from another conference I used to be giddy about it and think man I can't wait to surprise our opponent with how physical and the speed of our wishbone etc. I couldn't wait to see the shock and awe we inflicted on our opponents and their fan base with our Awesomeness.

In the last few years I've caught myself when playing another blue blood team from another conference "hoping" that we play well and good enough to win and hoping we don't make mistakes to get us beat. All "timid" like you know. I used to be all out there with my friends and acquaintances from all over the country and would confidently predict OU to win any game, anytime, against anybody hands down. The last few years not so much.
I'm here to tell you from this point on, I'm going back to my Switzer fan days and no more Mr. Nice guy.
WE are OU and we ain't taking a backseat to nobody. We are the #1 football program of ALL TIME. No apologies for that either.

Bring on the #23 rated volunteers. I'm glad you have "volunteered" to be beat down in front of your home fans in that big bad stadium of yours. There's only one Oklahoma! Where's Bosworth when you need him!

SOONER MAGIC AND BOOMER SOONER!

Thanks Rings, I was getting weary being the head cheerleader here.

Need some new blood to take the reigns.

God knows K2C is too old to do it...

Never show your adversary any fear...

Rings...man reading your post I can't help but think I've fallen victim to the same sort of thinking that you have in recent years. Up till the last handful of years, I didn't worry about Bob Stoops going up against any team or coach in the country. I was literally convinced Bob and OU was going to beat any team that got in their way. Thinking of OU losing a game before the game was played was unheard of. But alas, the last 4-5 years have kinda taken a toll on my confidence. Tomorrow will be a HUGE game in Bob taking OU back up to that mantle of teams that are feared by any and every team on their schedule. And I hate to admit, but there are teams now even in the Big XII that no longer fear playing OU. OU needs to show up tomorrow and take OU football to another level.

I would like to think this season is like Barry Switzer in 84 when he came off several mediocre seasons, and 84 was a step towards another ridiculously dominating run!!

Well, THANKS, Guys, for coming right out with it! I've been a 'Closet Doubter' and didn't like the way I was feeling, or thinking, about OUr Team. I feel better knowing that I'm not alone with my sick thoughts...Misery loves company...

In the Good Ol' Days, someone would ask, 'Where you from'? I'd proudly answer OKLAHOMA! More recently, my answer would be oklahoma...

It's Time...

Well, I can't say that I wasn't nervous just a little and that Sooner Magic almost waited to long but I'll take it. My wife said boy that was a fun game and fun to watch. I told her I can't hardly take that type of game but maybe once per year. I'll take the 40-0 game anyday just for sake of less stress and health reasons.

Senior, it was good to go to Church Sunday and let everyone know I'm from OKLAHOMA! again.

It's Time...

Boomer Sooner!

Great thread Rings just prior to such a pivotal game!! Man the game the other night, Bob and OU took a big step toward accomplishing getting the program back to where we all want it and have complete confidence week to week, regardless of who the opponent is.

I was talking with my son after the game and he mentioned that this was like the KU game in 2000. In the first half we looked bad, but had a team that people didn't feel was that good. We were worried about losing when the team went off at intermission. Then, something happened at halftime and the team came out on fire. They rolled in the second half, then played Texas the next game, with that classic score of the first Bob-to-Mack beatdown of 63-14. That team went on to do pretty well that year, as I recall. In fact, we started the season ranked #19 that year.
Hmmmm?!
Sounds kind of familiar for some reason!

Yep, that and spotting then #1 Nebraska 14 points then crushing them going away 31-14.

Decidedly one of the most rewarding, best days of my LIFE!
