AP WRITERS = IDIOTS OF THE YEAR

Most of us on this board haven't given much credibility to, or respect to the opinions of, the AP and its Polls for a very long time. Nothing has happened to change that...Move along...nothing to see, here...

I know, it's like the silly old days when the football National Championship was awarded before the bowl games. Just dumb.

The only problem with this is OU won a MNC prior to the bowl. We got beat by Paul Bear Bryant and Kentucky

But then again Maryland won a MNC but got beat by OU in the Orange Bowl.

In 1950, it begs the question "would the outcome of OU's game against Kentucky been different if OU had actually been playing for a national title?" As it was, the Sooners had already been named the NC in both polls. The answer is we'll never know. Regardless of the circumstances, Kentucky won the game but it had no impact on the final polls/end of story.

OK, uh, 8 months before you were born. Right.

19fitty, my favorite year. Gas was 18 cents a gallon. A median price new home 8450, average home price, 1940 bucks. Average wages, 3210 a year.
Cost of a new car...1510.
I could go on, don't want to bore you.

OK but the same question could be asked by Maryland.

I was born in late 52. I became a fan during the Gomer Jones years. Transistor radio and all. Didn't he recruit the Harper brothers and Steve Owens? Heck, I was 12 years old or so. I would love to see some posts during his tenure.

Well hell K2C, you're a puppy. You should be slalom water skiing still.:D

Yes 83, some of those old cars would be cool to restore to their original glory.

Jim Mackenize brought in Owens. Steve tells the story how Mac had really recruited him hard to go to Arkansas and had Steve leaning that way. Mac became the OU head coach and convinced him to follow his heart and come with him to Oklahoma where Steve had aways wanted to go anyway. He tells the story better than me and enjoys sharing it.
