I just read where Gus Malzahn was #1 on the Sec coaching hot seat. My reaction was Wat! Are you kidding? Who would they replace him with? Same goes for the Big 12. Here's my guesses and thoughts....Feel free to disagree......

#1 Dana Holgorsen WVU. It's been rumbling for the last two years. Stupid move, IMO.

#2 Kliff Kingsbury T Tech. Pretty boy better find a defense and fast, like this year.....

#3 Charlie Strong Texas. He better win and more important he needs a strong recruiting class this year. So far, he's failing.

#4 Mike Gundy OSU. One bad season and Pickens will explode. I predict this will be the first turn over and Gundy will land somewhere. Maybe LSU.

The others are safe. KU, ISU and Baylor have new coaches. TCU coach is proven.

OU and KSU is a no brainer.

Thoughts on this or any other hot seats in the nation?

1...Holgorsen is as good a coach as West Virginia will ever get. His leaving WVA should really be his decision. WVA needs him....not the other way around.
2...When has Texas Tech ever played defense ?
3...Agree that Strong is on thin ice, but if he keeps winning games with lesser talent against Oklahoma (2 of the past three years, with a near miss in 2014), he might last until UT gets serious about recruiting high school quarterbacks.
4...(See number 1). Gundy may well be the best option for OSU's future success, but even with a decent track record under Gundy, OSU still plays (and recruits) in OU's shadow. If you're OSU, what coach would represent an upgrade if Gundy is purged ?
I think the Baylor program is on the hot seat in the wake of Coach Briles' scandals. And unlike the 1989 scandals at OU, I'm not sure if Baylor has the clout to recover.
Iowa State and Kansas are two programs where winning 6 or more games per season is about as good as it gets. No coach at either school should ever be put "on the hot seat".
When Snyder retires, Kansas State's future seems to be more likely to fade than to remain as competitive as it's been under Snyder. Unless Snyder leaves his magic wand behind, the next coach at KSU will be severely challenged to maintain success.
Stoops and OU in my opinion are safe and solid, for the current time. But OU has to consider the conference's stability in future years. OU's the only school in the Big 12 without serious issues hanging over it. A hall of fame coach, great facilities, stadium expansion and rejuvenated recruiting makes OU the bully on the block. It's my opinion that OU deserves better.

Kliff just signed an extension and is a borderline god in Lubbock. This is only his 4th year and has gone to two bowl games while providing the #2 total offense and has become a proven QB whisperer. On top of that he made drastic changes to his staff, something that tenured coaches are usually too bullish to make and he made them!

I don't think Strong is or should be on the hot seat just yet. CT's comment #3 above, that they've played us closed and beat us last is big for the horns and gives them confidence that they are just a few players away from becoming the big dog again in the B12. He's having to re-stock the shelves that Mack left pretty depleted when he stepped down. He could have one, maybe two .500+ seasons, but needs to get them back to bowl games and 9 win seasons by 2018 or he's gone.

I think Holgorsen and Kingsbury are both good for the time being, but if they don't make a bowl game in 2016, there will definitely be some grumbling in Morgantown and Lubbock, but more so among the Mountaineer faithful. The WVU fans have been pretty patient with Holgorsen, but if he can't get them more than 7 or 8 wins next season, the heat will get turned up on him. Same with Kingsbury, but since he's signed a contract extension recently, he's got a little more time on his side than Holgorsen.

Despite the contribution that Snyder has made at KSU, the program seems to have reached a plateau the last couple of years and there doesn't seem to be any indication that the Wildcats are going to be a serious contender for the B12 in 2016. Although the Wildcat fans will stomach a team that is around .500 again, don't be surprised if that level of acceptance lasts too many more seasons.

If Holgorsen does not win 8 regular season games this year he is gone. His decisions have cost WVU a minimum of 1 or 2 games each season. KSU and OSU were both losses that coaching decisions caused last season.
