Hopefully, the new DC is a homerun hire. Why? Besides the obvious need to improve the entire team and make it truly capable of winning a national championship, having an elite DC would be insurance in case Lincoln Riley suddenly decides he wants to be an NFL coach.
Currently, there's no one on staff worthy of being the next OU football coach.
It's a big deal. Bob might have stuck around a few more years if he hadn't hired Riley. Bob knew Riley was going to be a head coach and likely leave OU. He knew that meant the time was right for his exit.
