An interesting stat in Florida's1st 66 games they gave up only 7 HRs Vs, OU in 2 games we hit 4 HRS

No small part of that was OU's defense. It was defensive excellence that allowed the Sooners to frustrate their offense. And the more extra innings we played, the small amount of pitching advantage they might have had dwindled ever so slightly.

Aviu hadn't had a home in a month. Maybe two. But she should have had the homer to remember. She's a bit like Hal Smith in my favorite all time world series. Most here never even heard of him.

I think their pitchers are excellent. But they never played a defense all season that did what OU did to them. They had to earn everything. And OUr pitchers made that hard to do. And their pitchers kept piling up innings and pitches.

By the 7th inning tonight, their batters were yelling "uncle." The lost their fundamentals at the plate, discouraged, and Lowary blew them away. Lombardi deserves unbelievable credit for Paige 2's transformation. Just in time. We need a couple of great young left handers for the spring of 2019

Another interesting stat:

In the first game, I believe the 7,8, and 9 hitters for OU only reached base one time (Arnold had one walk). In the second game, all three reached base in our four run big inning. I don't believe they reached base again.

Need to research this stat better, as it's off the top of my head. But that inning where all three reached base was HUGE! Knighten could not have had a three run double had they not gotten on base!

Also, one small thought...I believe Knighten should have gone to third on that play. If she had, she scores another run on the next hit that moved her to third (Falu, maybe???).

It would have been borderline for her to make third and it is bad base running to make the 3rd out at 3rd base.

I suppose that four homers from OU in two games, when only seven were allowed previously, would be another indication that the SEC ain't all that. Either that, or the humidity is so oppressive at all their sites, that no one should aspire to play there.

Whatever, the formula for the RPI needs a severe adjustment. And the committee, even bigger changes.

I remember OU's 133 pound wrestler, Cody Brewer, was like 17-1 heading into the NCAA Championships. And he avenged his only loss of the season, a fluke pin where he just got caught by a good move by a good opponent he'd beaten every other time (2x NCAA All-American from Iowa State, Earl Hall). But because he didn't wrestle as many matches as the other top guys, they gave him the 13th seed. 13th seed, after losing only one match. And he was a junior and already a 2x All-American.

Needless to say, he stormed through his bracket, just terrorizing his opponents, including the #1 seed who he destroyed 15-3 in the semifinal match.

Point is...sometimes they just get it wrong.

Micco, that sounds like OU Softball with no respect by the committee. They did not give OU a Super Regional to host, they put them on the road vs, last season's runner up Auburn.

I wonder if next season the committee shows OU respect with their back to back National Championships.

I hope they do as well, but I think it should only be based on how teams play next year. This year's results should have absolutely nothing to do with next year's seedlings.

If either OU or Florida struggle mightily, and they have to play each other in the opening game of a regional tournament, then so be it. As long as it's based on what each team did or did not do that year. OU being returning champs should have no bearing on the seeding committee's thoughts.
