ALERT! TCU returned some tix and they are available now.

While I agree with you….. we need all fans on deck screaming before every TCU snap.

Maybe OU should give tickets away to numerous plainclothes police and scatter them around the stadium.

I don't believe 3,000 plain-clothed cops all shooting at each other, thinking the other is the bad guy, is the answer. The government and the police can't stop an attack. Your only hope is to protect yourself and avoid public gatherings. Don't count on the law to protect you.

It would be very naive to believe they wouldn’t be in the stadium in a very professional organized way.

If you don’t believe that then you don’t understand the professionalism and dedication that these people have.
There is already a lot that goes on that the attending fan never sees.

Oh, I understand and respect them more than you know. But the government isn't going to save your life. That's up to the individual. The government can only react to what has taken place, you know, mop up duty... when it's too late. But you are entitled to your false sense of security.

The right government actions do keep people safer than the wrong government actions. World history proves that point!

You’re wrong…. there are far more proactive counter intelligent and sophisticated security operations than you or I would ever know about going on even at a place like OU. It’s not fool proof.. but it’s a lot better than your pot luck, throw your hands up in the air, trust in luck and stay away from public gatherings solutions.

OU is said to be among the very best at stadium security, where they have highly trained professionals at work… I would like a few more armed personnel…. which is not unreasonable.

Since most major stadiums and other installations will be tightening up their security nationwide I’m very far from alone in these believes.

I'm sure you sleep good at night, knowing that someone else is responsible for protecting your life. I don't have that kind of trust in our government. So I'm prepared to protect my own life. Unfortunately, I cannot carry a firearm on campus. I am vulnerable. It's a common myth that police are highly trained skilled marksmen. A few are. Most aren't and fire their weapons just a few times a year at most, while civilians spend far more hours at the gun range. There is no way we can settle this debate on a message board. All I can say is, you best pull your head out and take notice at what is going on in this world. It isn't 1990 anymore. Bad things will continue to happen at public events. Its going to get much worse.

You assume a great deal about me and what I mean….such as “best pull your head out and take notice at what is going on in this world” That’s what extreme liberals do, which I’m not!

I can assure you that I have been studying this issue in depth for a lot longer than 1990. I have made good money knowing about the ME area.

Although I would be for more, I’m not taking about more beat cops…..I’m talking about having a few more people with serious marksmanship skills (not 3000) and people who can operate a several weapons systems.

Since we can’t take our own weapons to the game (and yes I own some) this is the next best solution unless you’re a coward and stay home.

I would agree that “It’s going to get much worse” but not just here, but nearly everywhere. The next 14 months are very dangerous times because of very poor national leadership.

You know, I read both those posts several times and I think you guys are on the same page.
So, what's the prob?

Also, you can't take guns to the games anymore?

How would anyone know, unless something 'went down'? ;)

I’m going to agree that at the end of the day we are not very far apart.
I just wish that he wasn’t so quick to jump to conclusions without knowing….

PS: If you’re flying anywhere expect longer lines than normal

What other conclusion is there to arrive at when you suggested OU should give the TCU tickets to a bunch of plain-clothes cops? That gets the red rubber stamp that reads "BAD IDEA".

I never said to give 3000 tickets to plain-clothes cops as you assumed.

I have no idea where you came up with that number. Did you pull it out of thin air?

You assumed that I was taking about normal run of the mill plain-clothes cops when in fact if you knew very much about how they operate you would know they would all have very good marksmanship skills in such a crowed area!

You yourself said we couldn’t take our weapons to the game then complained about the government not being able to keep us safe…. when this is the only solution in keeping us safe at a game.

If you don’t think the government doesn’t play a major part in keeping you safe from harm… you too are entitled to your own false sense of security and ignorance about the world too. In the present world your ability to protect your own life has some very firm limits.

No matter how poorly it’s currently being done it’s the government’s number one job to keep the public safe from all enemies foreign and domestic.

But please do keep you weapons handy when you can as everyone should IMHO.

I believe in the second amendment!

OK, I'll quit sparring with you. I placed the number at 3000. Not you. Put them in uniform, and I don't have an issue. People know who to go to when they see a police uniform.

Here's a little tidbit I picked up re-reading the Oklahoma SDA Lawbook. (Everyone who carries should re-read it when it gets updated each November). All it takes is the approval of a public university president, and a licensed civilian can carry on campus. Do you think David Boren will approve if I write him a letter asking for approval?

Now that's the spirit guys !

Question of the day from the radio on the way home tonight: How do societies that live under a system of rules deal with a foe that lives to eradicate us by following No rules and/or breaking those of 'civilized' society ? This is Not about any religion.

Well, clearly, regardless of religion, hunger, thirst, sex drive, land acquisition, fame, power, notoriety...if they want any of that that I may, or may not possess, you'll have to kill me for it...

Good luck with that too...I know my way around many types of guns...not afraid to use them either.

Bang bang...you're dead...not me.
Sorry, that's just the way it's gonna be.

Funny, I'll even defend liberal gun haters if I'm convinced they won't betray me.

Curious, isn't it?:D

This morning as I watched my coffee maker do it's job, I was thinking something similar. That the Geneva Convention has been rendered useless by these barbarians. Gary, your question has no easy answer. The rules of engagement are changing at the Pentagon as we speak. But as long as we have a PC leadership that refuses to acknowledge the source of the problem, we'll continue to lose ground. This is more than simply a world conflict. It's a new holocaust that isn't going away any time soon.
