Abdul Adams to Syracuse

So all that's left is Anderson, Sermon, Sutton, Brooks, Pledger and Thomas.....with Spiller coming in 2019 and McClellan in 2020.
Somehow, OU should be just fine.

Abdul Adams was quick to the hole, great speed but he had problems with his hands catching the football which kept him on the bench.

We avoided a disaster when he dropped a pass from Baker near our goal line &.an OSU player scooped it up and ran it in but it was ruled an incomplete pass rather than a lateral.

Abduls 99 yard TD run from scrimmage will be remembered forever.

Good luck and much success to him.

I would rather see the wishbone with Lydell Carr Spencer Tillman and Earl Johnson
Or King-Sims-Overstreet.......or Crosswhite-Pruitt-Wylie.
Unfortunately, the wishbone is history along with the single wing.
OU's wishbone era came to an end following the three Miami losses in 1985, 1986 and in the 1988 Orange Bowl.

Best of luck to Abdul at Syracuse. Thanks for choosing to be a Sooner and for that record-breaking run vs. Baylor, along with all of his other contributions to the team. Good luck and beat Clemson, FSU and Miami!

So far, the recruiting class of 2018 has three LB's, which is close to OU's average since 2002 of 2.43 linebackers per haul....in other words 2-3 LB's a year.
But looking at all the classes from the past 17 years, at least half the linebackers never become solid contributors and the most of the ones that have played have not been elite performers.....good, but not championship caliber.
In 2008, OU recruited 4 LB's, the best of the 4 being Mike Balogan who was at best very average. In 2009, 4 more LB's arrived and only Ronnell Lewis (LB/DE) made any impact.
2015's class had 2 linebackers....Arthur McGinnis and Ricky DeBerry. Ouch !
So while OU definitely needs to build up its depth at the position, the 2018 linebacking class looks like it could add some immediate help this season with Bonitto, Asamoah and White. One more would sure be nice !

I still haven't found confirmation that Jalen Redmond will be a DE. He's pretty small for that position, and it seems he's better sized as an LB. Could he make 4? Or are we going to continue rolling out these undersized DLs?

I'm not sure that OU having "undersized" defensive linemen and/or linebackers is as much of a problem as poor coaching (playing out of position, poor tackling, poor reads, etc).

I was referencing to the poor coaching.... a defensive coach that says we're running a 4-3 defense by putting 3 DLs up and calling the pass-rushing LB his 4th DL. Nobody is fooled. We all know it's a 3-4 defense with a pass-rushing linebacker.
